I have just checked the paint thickness on my car with a calibrated digital coating thickness guage. The doors & roof were approx 110 - 115um, whilst the bonnet was around 120 - 130 um. I checked a workmates Saab, and it had 110um average on the bonnet, whilst our Mitsubishi Triton ute had only 75-80 um on the bonnet. Cheers PSI

Jeff, Does this mean that you will running the Mitsubishi van at WSID from now on ? Come to think of it I did see a Van out the front of Spiro`s the other day........... Geea, I hope you enjoy Black Betty. Cheers PSI
  3. Not really. No car mods as cheaply and gives as much results per $ as the Xr6T. At the expense of hijacking this thread, could you please back this statement up with some sort of eveidence.
  4. P.S.I replied to CJF077's topic in Off-Topic
    Miss Uranus ??
  5. You could also argue this point with any of the FPV or HSV cars. I am sure you could get your XT V8 really hammering with a supercharger and big exhaust, embarrass a more expensive GT and still have change. Some people are less inclined to mod a new car and more importantly void warranty in doing so. I do not think 59K is too much for car that has been specifically designed to produce 270kW/550Nm and have a 3yr/100,000 warranty. Just my opinion. Cheers PSI
  6. Avanti Chiles are close, but IMO they look like a cheap imitation. The BBS wheels have a bit more of "dish" where the chiles look flat. Hey Falchoon what are the wheels on the orange beastie ?? Cheers PSI
  7. My faves are the BBS "Motorsport" rims as used on the DJR cars, and there is a member on the forum who has them on a lowered debadged white XR6T. Only prob is the HUGE dollar value. I would have to sell the T to afford the wheels
  8. PSI, as said in another thread. That is awesome time. So basically it gives proof that a standard XR6T can crack the 13's EASILY! Typhoon....who knows??? Cracker of an engine and car, especially if as you unabashedly say, your not a pro down the strip I am suprised that no one has taken the "pro at the strip" comment out of context.. where is Ken ?
  9. Lumpy, my only mod is the hole in the standard airbox, everthing else is STOCK. I personally do not believe that this makes a big difference. My car is running 13.6`s and I think that there would be a lot more std auto T`s out there that would do the same. Rboksic ran a 13.9 in an auto T the other night at WSID with a crap ( no offence ) 60 time. I am no pro at the strip but if you can nail your 60` times it makes a huge difference. As for the typhoon internals, who knows ? Cheers
  10. Whilst the T has a great exhaust note and goes hard, my favourite donk is the BMC A series. My 69 Cooper S running 13.5:1 compression, 140 thou oversize, 648 cam, twin split 45DCOE webers, Keith Dodd offset rockers, lightened crank & flywheel. It had a real bark to it and went like a scalded cat. I had to cut a hole in the firewall to fit the ram tubes ! Worst engine. see above.

JT, good work with the mods. By the way I like your avatar  Cheers PSI

Rob, IS there something your not telling us about your STOCK T ?? I am sorry to question your time, but if you did indeed run 13.96 on the 18/8/04, this indicates that you have gone forward in time to preform your run so you must be running a "flux capacitor" which last time I checked was not a FoMoCo option. :o Cheers PSI

Well Done Mate ! Imagine what you will be doing with a decent 60`time. My previous best at WSID was a 13.86 with a 60` = 2.135, got the 60` down to 2.0 at now running consistant 13.6`s. How have you been launching ? Do you use the auto perfomance mode or self shift ? It is good to see another Sydney based drag racing forum member. You should join in for the next V8s vs XR6T meet Cheers PSI
  14. I know its not a XR8, but there was a guy at the recent WSID street meet in an auto GT-P. I think his best time was a 13.9 with only 2500Kms on the clock. So you could figure an XR8 is bit lighter but with less power would do a 14.3 - 14.5 ?? I also wonder if the Boss260 performs better with the auto. This seems to be the case with the T. Cheers PSI
  15. Try this link. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...topic=6807&st=0 Cheers PSI
  16. Cro, did Gadan have the Ford "paint" and "interior fabric" protection ? If so I think you may have a case of false advertising....
  17. perhaps we need an intercooler fitted to this thread. Does anyone know of a reputable supplier
  18. P.S.I replied to shiftyxr's topic in XR6 Turbo
spot on doublek ! Yes there were only 2 x T's at WSID on wednesday. Ducatijb & myself. It was a bit disappointing but we had a great night. Apart from legally being able to drop huge burnouts and go to 160kmh+ it is a fantastic social event. Just remember if you do it at the drags you can prove it with a time slips . Unfortunately I have an ordinary record against the LS1 powered cars, but I go down swinging:w00t2: Coltyu, I have not seen too many HSV,s at the drags and I have not run one either. The Vic boys may come up against them at Calder ( geea ?? ) Cheers PSI

PSI define fair dinkum. Where is there a law which says that 'traffic light encounters' have to be fair? If I line up next to any car and he's revving it then I'll probably give him a run, hopefully I'll win. If I dont then so be it. Respect. If the other guy is running NOS or whatever then good luck to him, he'll probably win but its not my cup of tea. I wonder how many cars out there are running it... Turbodewd, Some people who have high performance choose not to race their cars on the street. You could run a GTS or an STI and hose him. great for you but that guy may have no points left or he could have his family in the car. If he picks you different story. There is no law for traffic light encounters, if you want to risk your license & the subsequent fines... knock your self out. Me personally I would rather hand over my $45 and run at the strip. At least then I know the car next to me is there FOR THAT SPECIFIC PURPOSE. PSI

Guys, unless you are packing some serious grunt DO NOT understimate the LS1 powered cars. For a measly outlay these guys are getting very very quick street cars. I ran a guy in a VY SS ute at WSID and he was pulling 13.4 with some basic mods (edit & mafless tune). The other issue I have with red-light battles is how do you know if the person your running is "fair dinkum" ? Get out to the strip and you get a REAL result. Cheers PSI
  22. Big Mick, Thanks Mate I think I might retire now whilst I am in front  I am not sure how I`d go launching a big Nm monster like yours! My technique would probaly see your tyres disappear into the stratosphere. Cheers PSI
  23. Thanks Spiro, I tried launching with a few more revs on board and got my 60ft times down from 2.13 to 2.0 2.064 = 13.644 @100.78mph 2.008 = 13.661 @100.61mph 2.074 = 13.696 @100.63mph I found that stalling up on the 1st staging light ( instead of the second ), gave me more time to hold the revs and bring the boost up. Plus I am not so nervous at the lights now at tend to think a bit more about what I am doing. Cheers PSI
  24. Hi Brian, That must be a heavy duty spound system if it requires its own crankshaft to be fitted in the doors.
  25. Hi Scott, No mate I have never had it on the dyno. I think there is a dyno day coming up soon so I will give it a run there and post the results Cheers PSI
