  1. It is interesting to hear from you guys. Whilst I have owned a number of tuned cars over the yrs and many yrs ago some big ported rotaries, 300+rwkw is easy to throw about however is suprising power for a street family car. Being a little older these days a bit of research and drawing on experiences from everyone can help to reinforce your logic (as bouncing ideas of the wife is never a good idea).
  2. Being a virgin modder of XR6T's and having saved some $$$ to get things underway I was hoping to draw on the experiences of everyone good and bad. So what have been the benefits and good stuff of having a big rwkw XR6T? Also what has not been so good? In some cases has it been a bit too much (I.e. daily into not so daily driver). Cheers
  3. There would not be one Police Officer who would not agree more resources, more Police, harsh penalties etc etc would be greatly welcomed. I have to admit guys it is refreshing to read responses thus far that are not pointing the finger. Just all round rotten situation.
  4. I agree. My advice is spend the most $$$ you can afford on front speakers, then 1 or 2 subs in rear, then dynamat the car. If you just want noise I guess but I can vouch the above will out perform all day in done correctly.
  5. Accountability. If it isn't coming out of the person back pocket no person ever seems to give a F*)K. I don't think any person on this forum minds paying a bit extra for quality work and attention to detail. Last service my mechanic rotated the tyres and checked the air in the spare in the boot. Just simple old school things that we appreciate. Having said that John McGrath Belco do not service my car but fixed my ICC under warranty and noticed my seat needed repair. They notified me of this and also told me it would be done under warranty so A+ for the boys down there. Chin up boys.
  6. Where would we be without a good Aussie struggle town trolley pushing family. So many uses, shopping, thieving, baby carrying, midnight taxi, creek damming device, artificial lake reef (when submerged). In fact I think I may patent a new floating trolley, will save Woolies a fortune!
  7. My car was written off in 2007 and I was with AAMI. I told them where I wanted the car towed, had it assesed in 2 days and had pay out within 10 days. Old man has been in the smashy bus for 30+yrs and he still rates them. Mates car was flogged on Boxing Day (BRAND NEW Mazda 6 - 12000km's), torched, he has already been sorted, again AAMI. I am happy with them.
  8. After your experiences; On a BF MK II fitted with injectors, larger intercooler (PW, Rapid, Nizpro), intake mod, have any forum members seen more benefit from replacing; - Intake plenum, cat and centre muffler or; - Full exhaust replacement however retaining standard intake plenum. End goal is daily driving and low down torque / acceleration. Thanks Dave
  9. Happy dad day to all the dads. Myn is off to a great start. Took the car to the wash nice and early with son in toe. Let him off the leash in the car while I dried it off admiring the shine. Got in the car to find said son had scratched the tint off two of the windows with a screw driver head he found under the seat. Yey! Happy fathers day!
  10. Car all fixed. New ICC on Ford. Thumbs up John Mcgrath Belconnen
  11. I just hope I can start a thread like this someday....... More work, less forum time
  12. It's all life experience hey?
  13. I have used Focal K2P's before and they were tops. Never used Alpine but my Focals had FAR more detail than my mates Alpine splits (both were between $800-1200)
  14. Unfortunately dealers seem expensive. I take my Ford to Gentech in Canberra, get exc service and comprehensive check over for a lot less than the Ford service cost. Took my new Nissan X Trail back to Nissan for 30k (oil change), $350. Last time that will happen. Called Unltratune and it would have been $179 using Nissan parts and same oil.
  15. Yeah I had an aftermarket DVD roof mount added and ipod with switch so I was expecting them to reject the claim. Noticed the seat and will be fixing both when parts come in. John McGrath Belconnen. Bit scared to say but was impressed. See how we go when (if) the parts come. I am positive though.
  16. ICC R.I.P. Ford supplying a new one, and noticed the stitching in my drivers seat required repair so are doing that for me as well. Good one Ford.
  17. The boys will be "working to rule" that means no TIN's for minor traffic matters and 1 job at a time. You call, Police come, Police go back to station, do paperwork till job is complete, then onto the next. Simple offences will be responded to in days not hours under this system. I guarantee if you drive speed / manner dang, over 45kph, street race, burnout etc, you will be off to court. Over 15's, under 15's most likely a caution but it is up to the officer. Definately not worth the risk.
  18. Yeah wish it was that easy, pushed the thing about 100 times. Booked into Ford on Friday so I will let you know how I go. Thanks for the input. Dave
  19. Just pulled the tissue box out. All the plugs are in place as per factory. Fuses all good. Disconnected battery and reconnected, all good. Just no audio functions at all.
  20. Disconnected the battery and reconnected. Allowed code to sort itself out but still no radio. Again I have full AC/ fan controls which are being displayed upon the screen but no CD or radio? Now cant even set clock as when I depress the menu button (as per man. handbook) there is no function, nothing on screen. Bizzare. Had an Aux ipod line fitted about 7 months ago and has been fine so I doubt it was that. Has been fine the whole time. I guess I will have to visit Ford?
  21. Need some advice on what to do next. Got in car today and air con, fan etc all good but no CD / radio. Nothing on screen, no action at all. Checked fuses and all OK, replaced one and CD popped out. Now asking for "Code", went through my dealer manual and nothing to be found. Thinking of disconnecting battery next? Weird, drove up to Sydney and back yesterday and was fine. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers Daveh
  22. davidg2152 replied to azasturbo's topic in Brakes
This is correct. BF's went to Territory calipers and yes the BA brakes were just scary on the XR8's in Sydney. The BA turbo boxes would also jump into limp mode very quickly if driven hard around town. BF's were very big step up and ZF changed the car completely.
  23. Sorry if posted in wrong area. No harm intended. It's been a painful year for us Manly supporters got to enjoy a win when they come at this rate.
