Walboro 460 not priming

Hi All,

 

I have just had a walboro 460 installed plus, Bosch 1150 CC injectors and a turbosmart fuel pressure regulator. Other things as well plus tune.

 

my car takes ages to start if I haven’t driven recently. I can’t actually here the pump prime when I turn the key so it would appear there is no fuel pressure. When I turn the key the guage on the regulator also shows 0 reading. So it seems as though the pump is not priming. 
 

the car runs mint but this is super annoying the pump has an inbuilt check valve so guessing it’s the pump not priming. Does this sound like the issue and what normally causes this? 
 

What should I be looking for to rectify the issue. Assuming it’s not tune. Why would the tuner turn off the pump prime?

Is it the drop in reg or a different one?

That's the drop in reg. Does the gauge show pressure when the car is running?

 

I've had the same gauge fail in less than 6 months which led me on a goose chase for a while. Not saying it's your issue though.

Yer I went to the shop pulled up to check whilst the car was still running and it was around 40 PSI

It should be running about 60psi at idle.

Should the guage show a reading when the ignition is turned on but the car not started? 
 

But I just actually did a test and the pump is priming. There is no reading on the guage though. 
 

the car takes about 2 to 3 seconds to start from one turn of the key compared to when it was stock straight away. It’s about 1 to 2 secs if it’s been driven stopped and re started. 
 

Is the bigger fuel pump, bigger injectors and fuel reg causing this. Am I just being picky cause I’m use to standard?

While the pump is priming, the gauge should show how much fuel pressure it is making. If the engine is off it will show a reading for a while due to the anti drain back in the pump, but won't show the full amount of pressure it makes while the pump is running/priming.

 

Yes the slower starting could be from the tune.

I might be thinking too much into it. The pump is priming and there is fuel pressure. I put my camera on the engine bay whilst I turned the key and it has 60 psi fuel pressure. 
 

so I think with the tune and bigger pump injectors etc it’s just taking a longer to start. 
 

my next question then is this common after a tune?

It's probably the injector scaling that is making it take longer to start.
