Hey guys I just got a xr6t transported to me and whenever im turn the wheel and driving it makes one hell of a rubbing noise. Like a rubber rubbing noise, doesnt look like the tyres are rubbing though, anyone have any ideas?

sounds like air in the power steering system unless you've got rubber bits falling to the ground around the tyres as you go from lock to lock in a stationary position.

Gave it a go but doesnt seen to be the problem. Its hard to describe feels like rubber rubbing together down the steering wheel shaft somewhere.. any ideas appreciate thanks in advance

 

Also its making the rubbing sound even going in a straight line

Wait hang on - so you get rubbing noises and you can feel them, when moving in a straight line without turning the wheel?

 

Put the car on some ramps (or a 4 post hoist if you can) so the suspension is compressed, and have a look to see what's rubbing. You may even be able to park it with 2 wheels on the curb and 2 on the road

Almost found it, its coming from one of the left hand side ball joints, just cant figure out which one as it stops making noise when I jack it up and only makes noise under load. Very frustrating but almost there. Thanks for your help everyone
