My little bit of advice to anyone renewing the centre bearing mount on a BA falcon is to avoid using cheap universal joints, mine had only managed to reduce the vibration to a loud hum and two cheap universal joints later I was advised to use a quality spicer uni joint and the hum and vibration were cured.  So stay away from cheap uni joints the job is too big to waste time with cheap parts.

All fixed.

In all serious though, thanks for the tip. Is nice when people have advice based on real experience.

I swapped mine out recently and didn't even consider the cheap option.

The hardy spicer unit is only 50 or 60 bucks anyway and is solid compared to the hollow cheapies that cost 30 bucks.

It's been said before, if you buy cheap you buy twice or in some cases 3 times.

Relevant to the thread but I mentioned it elsewhere; the oem uni joint was $50 to $60 from Hardy Spicer while repco wanted over $100 and a Ford dealer told me I was getting the same price as repco but only cos they were giving me a discount.

Lol wow what a joke. Yeah knowing markup now kills me anytime I have to get price on anything for my car. Especially ridiculous things like Kia Rio spark plugs at $50ea rrp iridiums....'pass me those Bosch double platinums over there please on staff'... haha also currently running the same Bosch platinum plugs in my xr right now. Couldn't say no for the price.

The Repco packaged unijoint for the falcon is actually supplied by Hardy spicer for them at the moment.

Next month or year it may be procured from elswhere.

When I called them they had the cheap one as a first option and offered the hardy spicer as a hd variant.
