Following on from the old (ancient?) instructions here, I've decided to finally write a detailed instruction on how to post images to your posts :spoton:

How to insert an image into your post on a PC

 

1. Navigate to http://www.imgur.com (skip to step #5 if the image already has a public URL, e.g. Facebook images).

2. Click on "New Post" then click on "Upload Images"

3. Click on "Browse" then select the image(s) you want to upload (edit them first if necessary), then click on "Open" (or paste in an image on the clipboard by pressing CTRL+V)

4. The image(s) will automatically upload to the server. Choose to use either the "direct" or "BBCODE" insertion methods at this point.

  a. (BBCODE method) Click on (or hover over) the image and then click the "down arrow" to the right of the "copy" button then click on "Get share links"

Then press the "copy" button on the BBCODE link.

  b. (direct method) right-click on the image and then select the "copy image location" option in Firefox (or "copy image address" if using Chrome)

5. Open the forum reply box to insert the image.

a. (BBCODE method) paste the previously copied image link into the edit box wherever you need to (right-click + paste ... or CTRL+V)

b. (direct method) click on the "Insert other media" button, then click on "Insert image from URL"

PC-6.pngPaste the link into the "Example URL" field (use right-click + paste as shown or use CTRL+V)

Then click on the "Insert into post" button.

6. Image insertion completed. Repeat the process for as many pictures as you need to enter in your post.

 a. (BBCODE method) The image will not show automatically as it is processed when you submit the reply.

 b. (direct method) The image will show automatically in the place where you left the cursor in your post.

7. You're done! Finishing creating your post as necessary and then press "Submit Reply" when you're happy with how it all looks.

How to insert an image into your post on a Mac

 

1. Navigate to http://www.imgur.com (skip to step #5 if the image already has a public URL, e.g. Facebook images).

6. Image insertion completed. Repeat the process for as many pictures as you need to enter in your post.

How to insert an image into your post on an Android device

 

1. Navigate to http://www.imgur.com (skip to step #7 if the image already has a public URL, e.g. Facebook images).

2. Click on the small cloud icon in the top-right corner (close the advertising overlay if one shows by pressing the "X" in the top-right corner) then click on "Upload from device"

3. Browse through your device as necessary to find the image that you want to upload (edit them first if necessary), repeat the process as necessary to select multiple images... then click on "Upload" once you've attached the image(s).

4. The image(s) will now upload to the server (Skip to step#5 if you only uploaded one image) and will show the below screen when it's complete. Long-press on the image shown on the page that you would like to push into your post (need to do one at a time via this method) and then click on the "Open in new tab" button (button may differ based on what browser and device you use).

5. Long-press on the image shown individually on the screen and click on the "View image" button (again, this may differ slightly depending on your browser and device in use)

6. In the URL field of your browser, "select all" the entire text and "copy" it to the clipboard in a similar way to below.

7. Open the forum reply box to insert the image by tapping on the "Reply to this topic..." button/section.

8. In the edit box, move the cursor to wherever you'd like to enter the image when you're ready to insert it.

9. Click on the "Insert other media" button, then click on "Insert image from URL"

10. Paste the link to the image into the "Example URL" field (use long-press + paste similar to what is shown)

Then click on the "Insert into post" button.

 

11. Image insertion completed. Repeat the process for as many pictures as you need to enter in your post. The image will show automatically in the place where you left the cursor in your post.

12. You're done! Finishing creating your post as necessary and then press "Submit Reply" when you're happy with how it all looks.

 

 

 

**USE THE IMGUR APP INSTEAD OF GOING TO IMGUR.COM**

1. Open the app and follow the prompts to insert an image. Once it's uploaded, long-press on the image and then click on "Share Direct Link" on the menu that shows up.

2. Click on the "Copy to clipboard" button.

3. Go to step #7 above to complete insertion.

How to insert an image into your post on an iOS device

 

1. Navigate to http://www.imgur.com (skip to step #8 if the image already has a public URL, e.g. Facebook images).

5. Press on the "3-dot" menu in the top-right corner and then click on the "Open image in tab" button.

6. In the URL field of your browser on the tab that opens, long-press on the text and then press "select all"

7. Press the "Copy" button to copy the URL to the clipboard in a similar way to below.

8. Open the forum reply box to insert the image by tapping on the "Reply to this topic..." button/section.

8. In the edit box, move the cursor to wherever you'd like to enter the image when you're ready to insert it.

9. Click on the "Insert other media" button, then click on "Insert image from URL"

Then click on the "Insert into post" button.
