$ Per Kilowatt

Hi guys I thought it might be interesting to work out what kilowatts cost these days, what are the good exchange rates per se, and what are the bad.

For Example

XR6 N/A - 182kw

XR6 T - 240kw $6,550 option.

58kw increase the $ per Kw is $112.93 approx.

APS I Kit - 280kw $1,650 option.

40kw increase the $ per Kw is $41.25

Obviously at the higher end I can see the $ going up and Kw coming down but its an interesting comparo as to what a Kw is worth these days and might help others work out what upgrades are worth the $.

Don't forget that the price jump for XR6 to XR6T is also for rear power windows, traction control, LSD, etc.

Exactly - you are getting a lot more than just the extra killer watties for your factory turbo upgrade. If you take out the cost of all those items if purchased as accessories then you'll get a more accurate picture.

And if Liontamer2 spent $4300 and got 260Kw at the wheels - exactly what did he get??

Hi Russ, I have posted seperate threads on all my mods.

I have an Xede chip from Chiptorque, installed and tuned by Amberley Auto's in Dandenong (did a great job). I have removed the center muffler and replaced it with straight through pipes. I also have a second coldair intake with BMC filter. All up 233rwkw's in normal mode which I was told is 310fwkw's. As per my sig I have an offical 1/4 mile of 13.3 at Calder which would back up 310fwkw's. Hope this helps, do a serch for my mods if you like if you cant find them let me know and I'll put up some links.

How many KW's does a big MOMO or Nizmo sticker give me?

When comparing kits do you use kw claimed by the people who make them or do you use the results from an independant test on a customers car? They can be very different numbers.

For instance a certain avaliable kit on the workshop car runs out at 119mph down the quarter but the customers who have bought this kit only reach 107mph...that's a big difference.

Similarly the nizpro stage 2 kit is sold as being 350kw flywheel, yet a customer in Adelaide who fitted the kit himself produced 311 rwkw (no matter how you convert it that is significantly more than 350 @ fly)

So its the old saying about shetlands & thoroughbreds...they might all be horses but not all horses are equal.
