Hi All, just joined and finding this a great forum, so thanks to all who contribute.

Bought an FG Series II XR6 Turbo (Lux Pack) new in December last year - love, love love it!

The only complaint I have is the lack of tie down points on the front and the floor of the tub. I figure floor tie downs would make it really easy to carry small items without then rolling around, and fron points make it really easy for tying my dogs in the back.

So I got some tie down rail from Super Cheap, see pic, but hesitated when it came to drilling into my new baby...

So my question is this:

Where can I get a diagram of the tub liner and how and where it attaches to the substructure? How easy is it to remove the liner and would this be my best option for fitting the rails where I want them, using some metal plate to reinforce. I'd like to avoid drilling holes in any of the metal structure as I am a little paranoid about rust although if I have to I will and just properly treat the holes before assembly.

So basically I'm wondering if anyone has any experiences to share with fitting tie down rails to their plastic lined tub?

Thanks in advance

Presto

Hey Presto

Remove the top capping (easily done), which releases the tub, so it easily lifts out

I'd suggest doing this to see exactly where the steel sub structure is. (With the tub removed, you'll see that it isn't a complete floor). OR get it up on a hoist to check out.

Yes, to treating the holes after drilling. And a reinforcement plate will help if you need to tie down a big load.

I can post or Pm some pics, as I have a tub sitting on pallets

I made a video removing the liner & tub of my FG series 1 which should be pretty much the same, literally only takes a few min. The metal sheeting is a bit flimsy but with a couple of bolts along the length of those tie downs it should be fine.

Top vid that ^^^^

Just watch out for the fuel tank if your drilling through the tray.

Hey guys,

I had been wanting to do this to my FG trey for years now and finally did it. However, I got a pro to do it.

PFA blueprints of the Fg trey.

The next photo is the work done to my tub. Thick marine ply was set down and bolted to the cross members, the anchor rails, and tool box screwed into the wood, and then marine carpet.

Ps. I know I'm replying to an old post, but this is more for the people who are looking to do something like what has been discussed.

Cheers
