Of course if the fans were on before freeway speeds they would stay on until the threshold that switches the fans off.My BF temp is normally a little under half (3/4 between the first temp mark and half), at half is where my fans are normally kicking in, once fans are on the temp drops very quickly to the normal level again.

I was just curious as to why you asked as I have just done one and have noticed needle sitting slightly higher.

Nothing cools better then straight water, and coolant is not very good at transferring heat. If your using premix I wouldn't worry about it. 1
