Back to the dealer this morning for a code check and sure enough 2 codes were up, running low manifold pressure and high fuel pressure, and the CONE or some name like that not opening up.

Dude, I am getting the same codes logging in mine. What was the sensor?? It may help me with mine.

They will tell me today and then I will post it on the site :kissmy:

I don't believe that it's mandatory for an XR6T to actually boost to 6 psi. My car has been on 3 different dyno's & had the boost measured on its second dyno while still stock at CnJ motorsport here in Brissy. In Shoot 6 with 22,000k's the car made 187.4 rwkw without ever getting to 5psi. twin xr's, have you run the cars side by side to see if yours has slowed or it's complacency setting in. Good luck with her.

About the run-in process... The recommended run-in schedule was used... I was enjoying some "spirited" driving by 300km :smilielol:

The run-in was completed on Matt's famous Macquarie Pass & Kangaroo Valley drive day !

It's been a few weeks since it was at Ford, so it will be interesting to see if there are any new fault codes logged.

I suspect that it is running rich, as there's always a fine black dust on the back of the car...

I know that I could get it chipped, but I would have to find a workshop that would be prepared to take the chip back if the lack of boost couldn't be overcome... I'd pay them for their time, but if it still couldn't muster the "go" then what's the use of the chip ?

I would also be a little concerned that the use of the chip would viod my warranty... What's the use in voiding the warranty in an effort to overcome a build issue with the car that the manufacturer can't fix under the warranty ! &^#^% !

It's going to be 3 weeks before the dealership turbo specialist is back @ work - so it's booked in for early February. :hrmm:

Or take the orange one......

Careful there Matt - that sort of talk could be dangerous to my health !

But I would also be interested in this faulty sensor that hypnodoc reported ?????

Since it's going to be so long before the dealer looks at it, we're considering taking both cars back to C & V for a side-by-side comparison. But jumping between both cars, you can feel the extra pickup of the orange one - the citric is very sluggish and needs so much accelerator pedal that by the time you start to get some decent speed, you've hit the kickdown switch...

I guess that this also explains something that came up following a day's driving near Goulburn late last year ;) - Matt commented that I was taking it easy, nope I was pushing the car as hard as it would go - it just wasn't cooperating.

The run was yesterday morning in Sydney - it was quite a biit cooler than recent weeks - low to mid 20's but a bit humid...

I believe that part of the problem is that there are so many possible contributors to this issue... The dealership have said that they will need it for at least a week !

Twinxrs,

Another option if you think it's running rich.

Assuming that C&V still have your file, you could ask them to print and send you the print out of the AFR.

I have the AFR printout from my dyno run that day, so we could both display the graphs to see if your car was running richer than mine.

Scotty just got the poo's because his misses just keeps blowing him away as she does with most people trying to keep up with her :pinch::thumbsup:

TWINXRS, Is your xr6t an auto or manual? If its a auto the power graph looks quite normal. About 170 to 180Kw is about the right number on a auto xr6t. I have a good deal of history now on stock (have checked over 300 car's) power level's, and your graph looks quite normal to me. Also be careful when looking at other power graph's, you need to know if the car is either a man or auto and what gear the dyno test was run in. If you dont have this info you will be very confused.

Yes Pete from APS has made a good point.

power outputs can be very different on auto and manuals... especially at the wheels due to drive ratios being completely different between the two cars.

also the old 3rd and 4th gear switches can confuses the who-har out of anyone.

and then theres shootout & non-shootout mode..

right down to the ramp rate adjusters on the dyno...

I've seen 200kw atw cars make 120kw atw due to poorly adjusted RR's on dynos at places like autosalon and stuff.

that's why it's good to use shootout modes on dyno-dynamics dynos cause it apperently is the same across the board to like 95% accuracy or within 4-5kw.

Maybe it's time to have another dyno day event. I'm sure there are plenty of T's out there that have the same nagging thoughts as to how their T's compare to others. Just need an organiser. Any takers?

Yes Peter, it is an automatic

I'm starting to believe that there's nothing intrinsically wrong with the car, it's just on the low side of boost/power :hrmm:

Believe me, driving this car, and then getting in SWMBO's car - the difference in response is amazing ! :(

There's very little audible evidence that the car has a turbo, no "spooling up" sounds, and you can only hear the induction sounds above 4000 rpm

Compare that to the other car, and it's chalk and cheese - you can hear the turbo "singing", the induction sound is awesome, and the car seems to have more torque down low

We're planning on taking both cars back out to C & V and doing a shoot-6 side-by-side comparison

Let me know when Scott, if I'm in the office I'll pop down and say hi.
