Replacing Headlight Globe Fg Xr6T

Hi everyone

This is the first time that I have had to replace a headight/highbeam globe on my FG XR6T.

It is on the kerb side and I can just get my average size hand in.

Would I be better off removing the airbox?

Do I need to twist or squeeze? Any clips?

Does the rubber boot come off first?

I would appreciate any advice.

Did this to my boss's car few weeks ago, was a *beep* of a job as it was tight. Doable with patience though.. Took me a hour to do both as one plug was stuck on the globe

Try get the plug off first,

Then the boot

Then there's a clip holding the globe in, you gotta push it and while pushed either go up or down. The clip with swing open

Seems familiar setup to my previous BA. Just wondering if it will help to remove the airbox first or can it be done with it still on? Does the clip still come off if you're not careful?

Remove the airbox. It will save you a heap of time.

When I did it the ring around the light where the clips attached to came off.. After that the globe wouldn't clip in tight.. Don't have to take air box off, takes same amount of time really

Yeah just bight the bullet and remove the airbox...the short cut will probabaly cost you more time, and leave you with scratches all over your fingers for your troubles...

Having some trouble getting the black connector plug (with wires) off. I thought that it just pulls off but mine won't budge.I tried wiggling it and using reasonable force but it won't remove.

Is there some trick to it or just some more force.

SOLVED :sungum:

I've just worked it out so just ignore my previous post.

On the two sides of the plug are two tabs that need to be compressed first to release and then while maintaining the pressure you pull (wiggle) the plug out. You may have to squeeze quite hard for it to release.

Then remove the rubber boot. Release the wire clip by pushing in and then downwards and then the globe comes off.

I did not have to remove the airbox; there was just enough room.
