G6Et Turbo Howling Sound

G'day All.

Just purchased my first fg after owning 2 ba xr6t's. My concern is the turbo makes an annoying howling noise off boost. howling gets louder the more revs you go (before boost) and howls down like a police siren when off the throttle. I havent really investigated much yet though when the turbo is shut off (car turned off) it spools down quietly like normal.

What things should I check? I. eg, splits in hoses. loose hoses!? a tiny coyote in that pod looking thing at the turbo from throttle!

I did notice this sound on my first ba when it was cold only.

its got stat 3 month warranty but id like to sus it out before I take it in to get an lsd fitted next week incase I need to spend cash on it!

I had a quick look at the piping clamps and what not. though Ill go ever it tommorow morning hose by hose see what that outcome brings me. bloody annoying sound it is.

if could be head droop on the turbo from hot shut downs. it makes a howling sound mostly on spool past the transition from vac to boost pressure

I had a bit of a better look this morning with intake pipe off turbo. turbo shaft is in perfect condition spins freely and no movement in shaft. check over hoses and piping. still same thing. Basicly loud as Fek spooling up. But once on boost sounds like a normal fg (kinda supercharged)

def sounds like head droop, ive seen a few turbos develope it. you cant tell by looking at it as its the turbine wheel that has drooped slightly off its ballanced axis.

check the manifold gasket and the turbo flange gasket
