hey guys, I have brought a 2009 fg xr6 ute auto

it has a chip in it with a tune and also a aftermarket air filter

I was interested in getting some work done on my engine

like upgrading the cam, valve springs, pistons etc

just wondering the best place around the gold coast/brisbane area

and costs on purchasing and installation

im still on my P's so im not after a turbo atm, would love one though

thanks in advance,

Nick

Elite Auto do some good work up there, they have a customer that runs decent power out of his N/A

Have a think about it all before going ahead with mods on the FG N/A. A tune and running 98 octane alone will push a bit more out of it - around about 12KW ( or a bit more) at the engine seems about right. Some extractors and a better cat will assist too - but again, you need a tune.

Cams and valve spring change will cost 1500 plus and the car will need a tune afterwards. You will pick up top end but naff all in the mid range because the variable valve timing is already helping that right now. Once off your P's you can head straight to a turbo which, as a daily driver, will run rings around the N/A even if you leave the turbo stock.

Invest wisely. A cammed up 4 litre is a pig as a daily driver and really, no match for the blown version - Finally the turbo already has quite good rods and pistons in it. Its your call, but why spend 3K for not a real lot of improvment.

^^^ good advise I spent thousands on those bloody e series to prove to my Expensive Daewoo mates that fords go hard without a turbo, I suceeded but it burnt a hole in my wallet for stuff all power now im out to prove that turbo'd fords go harder than supercharged holdens lol

for tuners in that area theres elite, hi torque, mercury, rdp etc

for valve springs I personally wouldnt bother its not like your running boost or anything just drop a cam in she'll be right :)) ... and exhaust n tune

thanks for the good adivce guys

I have a chip in it atm and it has had a tune

would I be best just leaving it as is at the moment because cam and valve springs wont give me much more kw and I can just get a turbo in a year's time
