The Lemon

How about this for a lemon:

1. Noisy differential on delivery of car.

2. Seven weeks before I finally got a replacement fitted.

3. After the diff was fitted the tail shaft apparently was no longer in balance and required a new one.

4. New tail shaft fitted but now have to wait six to eight weeks for the on car balancer to take out the final vibrations.l

5. Car intermittently looses power at 3000 rpm under medium load, sounds like its running on about two cylinders. Ford have now replaced the cylinder head as they apparently have a couple of others doing the same thing. First test drive with the workshop foreman and it still does the same thing!!

6. Ford Customer Care should change their name to Ford Customer Don't Care.

Not bad for my eight weeks of ownership!!

Call me silly, but I would think if they were "Ford customer don't care" then you would have had no work done to rectify the problem!!

Sounds like they are doing what they can, I'm sure you didn't have to wait 7 weeks because they were too busy, but more likely because they didn't have the parts required to fix the problem.

Put yourself in their shoes?

My 2 cents.

Hmmm first post and nothing but abuse.

Call it healthy scepticism, but Im watching this thread with interest.

I think rodxr6t has a good point.

there is no point having a customer care phone line, cause the people that man the phones don't have a bloody clue about cars, they are more like robots and repeat what they have been told just to fobb you off. none of them are interested in trying to help you.

don't get me wrong I love my t even with it's faults, but ford customer care just don't care. :banghead: :hrmm:

oh sorry, robxr6t :banghead:

Face it....Ford isnt perfect! Stop sticking up for poor Quality Assurance. This is something they need to get right. Most people have just lashed out 50K, you want it right!

There sloppyness is giving a GOOD car bad reviews!

Rod,

Dont listen to all these one eyed fools who have been lucky enough to get a vehicle with no problems. I have had probs with my XR6t too and can sympathise with you. I have spoken to somebody within ford and have voiced my opinion on the ability of the diff to hold up to the cars torque, especially low down. He was very non commital. He said that the problem with my diff will be rectified when it is changed for a new unit, however I beleive this is merely a short term solution and the problem will resurface after 5000kms. When this does occur, I will be asking all people in this forum who have had diff problems for their details and a description of the problem and I am going to take this further. The diffs in these cars are not suitable and Ford has taken the cheap option, hoping that only 1 in 10 people drive the car hard enough for the problem to surface. This way, it is more economical to change a limited number of diffs during warranty period than to put a more expensive diff in the vehicles which would handle the power from day 1. Another person I had spoken in Ford said that Ford had deliberately made the diffs weak to be the breaking point. He said it was more economical for a diff to be changed rather than a gearbox.

Like I have said in an earlier post, I had a MY00 wrx for 2 1/2 years without problem, as the vehicle has been engineered as a complete package. I was kind of hoping that Ford had the same approach to their motor vehicles.
