Standard Diff Or 9"?

Featured Replies

Hi guys I had a little mis-hap in my BF turbo ute a whileback and slightly bent my diff. I'm having a hard time finding a second hand original diff and was wondering if I should just go all out and purchase a 9". ATM my utes running 420rwhp and I'm planning on more mods soon. So what's your opinions on the 9" I've also come across a 4 pin LSD hemi diff apparently out of an au, the guy reckons it'll fit straight in and handle up to roughly 600hp...thoughts and opinions appreciated!!

A standard diff should be fine for the power but a 9" will always handle more. Have a look at McDonald Brothers Racing.

9 inch. They fit them to all cars these days. I had one in a VH Late model camira in 1983

Yea my choices are an original one for $1750, the 4 pin outta the au for $1000 or the 9" for $2500 (roughly)...also does anyone know what mine would be worth keeping in mind it's damaged??

#5

does that 9" come with diff centre for that price

#6

yeah, very cheap for a niner with a good centre.

The op also has to factor in the tailshaft cost, new U bolts etc etc

#7

9" diff housing with axels you'd be looking at that price

#8

Yep there is 1 on ebay right now to suit BA/BF, think its about that price

#9

some sellers include a centre, but it's normally something like a single wheeler 2.92:1 and axles are machined down stockies rather than billet ones

seems cheap to me... I remember waaaay back I had a 9" w/3.77 installed on my xD for about 2.5k, this is going back 13 or so yrs....goddam I had to work some extra shifts to get that thing ( I was student at the time)
