Hi all , whilst I would ideally like to go the whole hog on mods ,the pocket wont permit it right now , what with the having refinanced the mortgage to fund the ex's new home, interest rates on the rise etc.

So I thought I would fit an after market air filter , after reading up on it here at xr6 turbo.com.au I decided on a Hi flow BMC panel filter.

After loosing a bit of bark off the knuckles trying to grt the clips back on (seal is tight as now. yes yes the airbox) I went for a spin.......

Seems to have more power particularly down low , revs out more freely and the exhaust note seems a bit deeper particularly when up it.

So for $ 160 seems like a pretty reasonable addition for not much cost.

BTW , the standard filter was disgusting after only 10 000 ks , so keep an eye on em.

Yup I've done this too. Go the airbox mod (100mm rubber "PVC pipe joiner" hacked onto xr8 intake trumpet - search for this) and you'll up the ante again- then exhaust, then chip....

It's all good in the T.

BTW: Try a 12mm or so ring spanner over the airbox clips when lifting them into place, so the knuckles stay in A1 condition :)

I too have the BMC panel filter. I also added a 2nd air intake (home made for $30) it was a great improvement. You can also get a replacement set of straight through pipes for the centre muffler for about $130-$150. Great sound and some more performance too. :smilielol:

BMC Panel filter is great. Centre Muffler, No No No No No. Also the 105mm plumbers coupling is a much better fit for the airbox adaption. Better still go the entire XR8 pod setup and see the thread for the standard T intake to fit into the XR8 Pod as well, plus a BMC pod filter. Now that's breathing air :thumbsup:
