Its pretty much a paperweight , they have obsoleted it, no tuner can custom tune it to your car.

You got stitched real good.

capa 1 xcal box is useless, they cannot be reprogramed no matter what people say. you have to upgrade to xcal3, and stay away from genric tunes.whoever sold it to you GO AND BASH THEM and get your money back.

as posted already, no tuner can communicate with these boxes anymore and it has been that way for quite a while now, several members here including myself have contacted ebay sellers selling them and told them what is going on, only to get abused by the seller, basically they did not care if they were ripping somebody off.

Just a word of warning, if you are considering purchasing a 2nd hand X3 flash box, you need to make sure the original car has been returned to stock, if it hasn't, the box will be vin locked to that car and that box would also be useless to you.

your welcome, any of the SCT flash boxes once used on a car will be vin locked to that car, early ones needed the car to be returned to stock and then a tuner to unlock them, the X3's just need to return the car back to stock and then the correct tunes flashed into it

any generic tune isnt advisable , a custom tune is by far the better option . a custom tune might cost more then a generic , but atleast its suited to your car and not just your model of car [ like the generics are]

The lowest generic tune would give a little more power and still be pretty safe I would think - its only 8psi from memory - I know plenty of guys who ran this for ages (to save for custom tune etc) with no issues - but with smaller improvement over stock of course.......

Its more when you start to get up to 10psi and beyond when generic does not get the job done - just my 2 cents as I think he can still get some use out of it :beerchug:

I don't think any generic tune is safe because every car is different. Just save the money from the generic for the custom tune.
