Hi

After much negotiating I finally ordered a brand new F6 today.I took an auto for a test drive and I loved it!

I wasn't surprised with the power/torque....I knew it would blow me away however,I was surprised with the ride

comfort.I realize it's not a track demon like an EVO X but I didn't buy it for track work.

So in summary:

Transmission: Manual

So did you buy an Auto or Manual?

I ordered a manual.I still get that uneasy feeling that I'm not in total control of the car when I drive an auto.

I suppose it has a lot to do with the fact I've never owned an automatic.

After I get over the initial shock of parting with a substantial amount of money(it's taken a big chunk out of my savings) I'll

probably start of with a tune and some exhaust changes whether it be a cat back, just a hi-flow cat or rear muffler...I don't know.

I do want to change the rear muffler to a twin exhaust outlet,I know it's only cosmetic but I just don't like the standard one.

Any recommendations for the exhaust?

Is Mr timetaker a foreigner/Brit ? Not many Aussies have never owned an Auto ! :stirthepot:

On a side note, I drove the ZF when I wantedthe anniversary 50th xr6t and loved it but again, being used to manuals, Iopted forthe manual.

You can just plant the auto and concentrate on the wheel but the manual is much more involving and needs much more work ! upside and down sides...

enjoy the F6 , awesome kit ! :beerchug:

I'd personally be looking at intercooler changes before the exhaust, you will need it tuned if you change the cat. Doing the cooler first will be safer and probably give you more gains straight up.

I have a manta exhaust, big stainless dump (4-5") into twin 3.5" cats then twin 3" stainless all the way to the back, I went the single side option but you can go dual side exhaust. Goes good for me and won't need changing later if I want to chase some big HP

Some people have got some good results just changing the dump and cat with a retune, have a look around on the forums and you will work it out :)

Brilliant buying mate :beerchug:

I want a black one (but can't get close to the deal you got.....so that knowledge is useful), but think white is a great choice also.

I have driven auto and manual and I think the auto was slightly faster, manual slightly more fun. Tough decision! I am not considering a GS purely because of those ridiculous stickers.....

Thanks, remember I was able to receive a Ford employee discount. However when it comes to a FPV,the discount I believe is less than eg a XR6T.

I would say the auto is faster and very smooth.

I also was looking at a GS but I had to weigh-up a few matters.Because of the special price for the no options F6 ($59,990 on the road)it really

caught my attention. The GS looks like an "ordinary" XR8(not saying it's bad),no Brembos or Brembo option.I'm also not too fond with side view of the raised hood.

No intercooler,so most likely in warm-hot weather the ECU will wind down the power.I think in the handling stakes the F6 may have a slight edge because of approx:70 kgs less weight.

But mods to a GS can achieve great results and of course the sound of that SC V8 is something the F6 cannot match.

The particular GS(auto example) I was interested in was black with gold stripes it had leather, color screen around $58,000(without discount)on the road.
