hi all , just wanna bang up sum pics of the carrrrrrrrnage from phillip island this past weekend . it was the first round of the sports sedans and it did not go well for us as u can see lol ..

its a full space frame s2 rx7 - nis sr20 powered all NA ....

major things where 2 port holes in the block , busted rods , bend valves .. f*cked crank , hole in the sump --- its mostly F'ed !! lol took all the pics today ...

and a vid of it on the dyno the week befor at RE-customs just so ya know what it looks like .. (soz the sound dubbings out )

BUGGER......now a damn good coffee table....straight to the pool room.

How many revs was it doing?

What brand of rod bolt?

OUCH, alot of work in that engine.

Damn, what a mess. Shame a rod bolt was the cause.. or was it? Oh well, all new engine from here on in anyway... I feel for you mate!

Oh and sorry to see, never good when a motor goes bang, even if it is a bloody sr motor

For the amount of damage to the rods and cradle, surprised there isnt more damage to the block itself.

Holy sh*t. Doesnt look like anything would be reusable mate. Expensive repair I take it.

Also looks like one rod got very hot before failing, possibly oil starved...? Food for thought.

Was going to say that too, clearly that rod has super heated and distorted and then gone kaboom.

Gets hot due to lack of oil, bearing goes south, clearances now huge so it soon rattles itself to death.. either way its a very bad situation. Try GTI-R oil pump, have heard they're higher flow but do check it out for yourself. Good luck mate!

nah im lees brother Chris .. so im guessing you know this car ..

um car rev's to 9k but can go alot more , and yes the big end on one rod went for sure befor or after the ARP rod bolt broke not sure ... and dont think its lack of oil , we run a full dry sump set up and spent alot of time on the engine to make sure it had alot of oil all the time , oh well , bring on winton in a few weeks and will bang in a spare engine ..

and yes tons of time went in to the engine , making NA power takes a lot of work .. over 150rwks from a 2lt NA
