Will I Need Another Fuel Pump?

Featured Replies

im chasing 450rwkw, and I only have the process west surge tank bosch pump, is this going to be sufficient for e85 with 450rwkw?

if its not how would I hook another 1 up? does any1 have any photos of how they have done theres that I could take some ideas from?

also is it necessary to use more than 1 surge tank?

I dont really know the definitive answer, but I would say that you are going to need another 044 if your going to be using E85 to make your power.

You can tap another pump into the existing Surge Tank setup.

Have a seach for threads by or PM Headsex (member on here). He has previously put photos up of twin 044 mounted Surge Tanks by where he has added the second pump. There have been others that have also done this, but I cannot recall where they posted the photo's.

The solitary surge tank should be fine, you will not need another.

What you might need to look at however, is bigger injectors (not sure what you use at the moment), an aftermarket fuel reg (turbosmart or similar) and an aftermarket fuel rail.

You could also sell your Surge Tank setup in favour of the new Process West Fuel Tube, which has more capacity than the surge and has twin 044's. This works hand in hand with his billet fuel rail and Turbosmart fuel reg.

Unfortunately the Process West fuel tube is no longer in production. Shame too, I got one on my car and its a great bit of gear.

I believe to get to 450rwkw's it would be safe to have a second 044 on there.

Really??

Kev stopped producing them?

Why?

Obviously they are only geared to a small percentage of consumers (those chasing more than 500rwkw), but now that they are designed, why would he stop making them??

I believe the amount of work involved was far too excessive. He made 10 and from all reports lost money on making the first 10. Only other option was to increase the price which may have made them unrealistic compared to the other options.

I do believe Kev will make the 1.8L surge tank with twin 044's pre ordered.

Hope the above is accurate or Kev will :bopp:

I believe Kev reckons single 044 and 1.8L surge tank is good for up to 420rwkw (bit of headroom too I'm guessing)
