From memory the amp accepts the speaker level inputs from the ICC, so it will add more nasties to the signal chain. Personally I would be trying to tap into the inputs to the amp, it will be a much better option.

Do a search on amp threads. I posted up the wiring diagram in one of them a few months back. To be honest, you are better stealing the signal from the rear speakers.

I've got a quick query to add, which is in the same vein to the OP.

I've been reading up on how to add RCA outputs from the ICC, as it currently has none.

The main issue (from what I've read) is that the RCA output is small, roughly 0.4-0.5V peak to peak.

A more ideal output would be in the 2V+ range.

I was checking out a line converter data sheet: It stated the the input/output ratio was 10:1

Ie if you input 10v, you'll have a 1v output.

This got me thinking: If the signal from the RCA is too low, maybe the speaker out might be perfect to run directly to the RCA inputs of an amp. Now I'm not referring to an amps "High Level inputs" which so many amps have today.

I'm talking about running the speaker wire directly to the RCA inputs of the amp. Of course, you'll have to run the ground into each RCA input, but it should be hard to do with a bit of know how.

Has anybody tried this? I would try it myself, but I'm afraid it will be a few months till I could try it.

Yeah let me know how that one goes ;)

:o

This is how I feed 2 amps in my car and it works great. Factory speaker signal into the high level inputs of two amps.
