xcopbf Banned 118 Member For: 16y 3m 21d Gender: Male Location: narre warren Posted 07/09/10 07:51 AM Posted 07/09/10 07:51 AM was at a servo today where a guy came up asking about my t6 and what I have done to it, he just bought a 2008 fg t6 and went to a tuner in melbourne can't say who cause I will get in trouble. he went in asking about doin sum mods and then the tuner said if he go's a head with them he has to sign a wavier in case sumthing went wrong while tuning on dyno. just want to know has anyone signed a waiver and is it legal for them to do that, my tuner did not make me sign but tuner could be covering himself just in case, or his tuning skills are not the best, it's a well known tuner.

I have no problem at all with it as I only ever take my car to trusted agent.Why should they be responsible if your car sh*ts itself on the dyno due to poor maintanence or a poor tune that might have been previously done by another work shop?

If a tuner is not happy with the condition of the car they can refuse to put it on the dyno in the first place. I expect them to take responsibility of my car if they wish to take on the job of tuning it.

Legacy Donating Member 1,739 Member For: 19y 8m 5d Gender: Male Location: Dianella, West Oz Posted 08/09/10 06:59 AM Posted 08/09/10 06:59 AM Many, many moons ago - I was made to sign one by a workshop that ran my ute up on the dyno after loading a generic 10 psi tune up.I understood at the time, it was a generic tune loaded by another workshop and they didnt want to take any liability for any damage caused if my car didnt react well to the generic tune...When I had my ute modded and custom tuned however, I didnt need to sign anything.
Wingnut Member 573 Member For: 18y 1m 23d Gender: Male Posted 08/09/10 08:36 AM Posted 08/09/10 08:36 AM I guess Dirty32 made my point for me.I remember a case when a well known member on this forum took his car to a VERY well known tuner to have a few mods done and as it pulled in 4th gear BANG at about 4000rpm and 280 odd rwkw!! No fault of the tuner what so ever and they woudlnt have known the car had some serious issues internally without teaing it down. This car was also one of the most well looked after, over serviced and maintained vehicles I have ever come across. You have all kinds of turkeys doing funky sh*t to their cars from using generic tunes to runnings around with full piping and cooler kits for months before getting the thing on a dyno. I agree its a gamble allowing a work shop to run your car up without some sort of security but that's why you build relationships with these people before hand. As for G&D, I had my car moded over 12 months ago and at that time they had little if any experience with the FG but I got to know Brett and the guys down there a little and took a chance. 15,000km after the mods and the car still runs like a dream with well over 300. Get over 500 to a tank with a lot of city driving. Service was great they were on the phone at least 2 times a day talking to me about the car and explaining any changes that the needed to make.2 thumbs up.

Legacy Donating Member 1,739 Member For: 19y 8m 5d Gender: Male Location: Dianella, West Oz Posted 08/09/10 09:02 AM Posted 08/09/10 09:02 AM I probably also could have made my point a touch clearer...The generic tune that we loaded up was from another workshop in the East, from whom I had purchased my Xcal 1 Flash tuner from.I walked into the workshop asking these guys if I could do a power run with my generic tune loaded to check AFR's...Its probably also worth a mention, that the workshop in question doesnt have the best rep in Perth for 6T tuning - more so V8's, so maybe they were also trying to cover themselves that way too...In the end, I have gone with a completely different tuner / workshop, so it was only really a power run...
