245/40/18 To 235/40/18

Guys,

Have been pricing 4 new boots for my XR6T and there is a vast price difference between the 245 and 235 tyre. Would it matter if I chose the 235/40/18 instead of the stock 245/40/18 in terms of drivability and the way the tyre will sit on the rim. I got the optional 18" wheels (Five Spoke) when I bought my BA XR6T.

Your thoughts and experiences would be appreciated.

I've got 245's on mine. 18" wheels. Michelin Pilot Preceda. Great tyre, just coming up to 2 years and 40,000klms on them and looking to replace now.

Got a quote of $480 per today. I've got 235 Falken semi slicks for my track days and they are great as well, so personally, I don't see any big difference in 235 V 245, but I want 245"s if that makes sense?

Talk to the tyre mob you are going to buy tyres from. If the load rating is the same I dont see why there would be any problem

One guy said that hes done it before to save a bit of coin, but Im worried about the rim sticking out further than the tyre itself given its 10mm less in the width of the tyre. What should the load rating be?

The visual difference between in the same brand of tyre from 245 to 235 will be vitually impossible to see. There will be a load and circumference difference though so check that. I also doubt anyone could tell any difference in handling either.
