People tend to over look the fast that as the throttle is closed the pressure thats driving the turbo is also reduced substantially. Dont forget we are no longer playing with plain journal bearing turbos with 8mm or less dia shafts Could 1000k,s could be 100,000k's, no-one seems to be able to answer this question. But there is no doubt that manufacturers provide this equipment to a vehicle for reliability, not so much for performance.Reliability or noise reduction? Not every Joe Public wants a fooly sick Dose noise when he backs off the throttle However, there appears to be more lag without BOV and is more noticable in a manual than auto, cheersI have to disagree with that statement, my car (manual) comes back on boost much quicker and a rapid gear shift with no bov.

I was running an Autronic ECU, so was able to complete data logging on the intake charge air temp, as measured in the manifold. With the pod charge air temp would go as high as 65-70C when idling at the lights, in traffic on a 20C ambient day. By the time I got to the other side of the intersection, the intake temp had dropped to 25C, and doesn't go much lower. I also tested this with a makeshift CAI to the pod, and this made no measurable difference according to the logging unit. I wish I still had the data... Personally CAI's are overrated, and most people don't realise how much air is being sucked into the engine at higher rpm, and how much air is moving through the engine bay while moving.
