anybody elses fan unit just sit on the base plate? I would have though there would would be atleast a nylon cloth in there...metal on metal eek

yeah youd atleast think there would be a bearing on the bottom of this.... is anybody elses fan the same as mine? - metal on metal no bearing/nylon material

ive just done mine, couldnt get the plastic cover off, so I just put a few drops of oil through the hole in the center. just went for a drive and all works fine, and no squeak!! :turboboink:

oh I had that too. The plug gets stuck when taking the cover off and putting it back on. It does come out with a bit of wiggling etc...the plug just hits the plastic bit

BUMP come on guys surely someone must know....I must be missing something.. the shaft shouldnt be rubbing on the bare metal base...metal on metal :bangcomputer:

This is the bottom of the air con fan in my BA. I first noticed a squeek so when I tried fixing it I noticed that the bottom of the fan unit heats up alot when turned on. Surely this isnt right. So I took apart the motor and located the heat source. This is the problem. What is this? Some type of bearing? and should it turn with the shaft or stay stationary???? any info be good.

P.S the center bush in the picture can obviously roll around as its like a ball joint. However doesnt spin freely like a normal bearing.

Right squeek is gone. The only thing I have now is the ticking noise argh one thing to another!! anyone got a solution or cause for the ticking fan??
