All these things take away the pure driving affect and limit the exact control of the car by the human input. Pure is the fun you get outta the car. Towing in a manual is sh*te, the clutch slips if towing heavy up hill ( although you have to have the weight right up there and a steep hill ) Ever reversed up a incline with a manual, ever wondered what that funny smell is. Buy a manual for track days and an auto for real world applications. Love them both.

Imagine how much you would have beat him by if the T was a manual This just keeps getting better  hahahahaha Correct me if I'm wrong, (which I doubt). But I believe that the 2 quickest XR6Turbo's at the moment are both auto's. They being Dynosteve's and the Nizpro car. Why are the high perfomance tuners going for the auto?????BECAUSE THE AUTO IS THE BETTER BOX !!!!! :o
21/10/03 08:35 AM21/10/03 08:35 AM #47 A good auto will always be more versatile than an average manual every day. With the Dodge I KNOW I have a gearbox that is virtually indestructible. The B&M converter, shift kit and shifter as well as modified clutches, pumps etc will allow me to drive the thing manually and make the most of 500 ft/lb aka 700 Nm of torque. The big difference these days is that the drivetrain stuff is made specifically for cars whereas the old 9inch Ford, 9 1/4 inch Chrysler, 8 3/4 inch Chrysler etc as well as the Top Loader, A833 Nu Process gearboxes were used in both car and truck applications. These items are the ducks guts (as the Goose would say) and can handle anything thrown at them. Very similar to the 727 Torque Flite A904 Torque Flite, C4, FMX, C6 etc. These days however, more money is spent on developing and refining auto gearboxes. The improvements are designed for ease of operation, torque loads and horsepower losses through the hydraulic conversion of power. The Alfa has a great system. The Selespeed. It is a robotic manual gearbox, however I don't believe it downshifts as quickly as an automatic, not do I believe it allows for full power upshifts like an auto.Manuals are great, I love the rough old gearbox in the Mustang. In the real world however, I prefer to drive the work cars with auto's as it gives you more control over balancing the car through corners and doesn;t allow for wasted unnecessary wheel spin when doing a "turn and burn"Drive what you're happy with!

A good driver has proper control at ALL times with a manual, and will have far better balance particularly when cornering. Also a good driver doesn't need an auto to rob him of power just so he can do a turn and burn without wheelspin - proper control of the right foot is all a good driver needs to achieve this.:banghead:/*remove tongue from cheek*
21/10/03 10:18 AM21/10/03 10:18 AM #49 Okay, you got me, I'm not really a good driver at allIn the real world (public roads, traffic etc) the auto is a much better proposition when ranging from high speed driving and trolling along in stop start traffic.A good driver is a good driver who has very good car control regardless of whether the car is auto or manual.Auto boxes are pretty good these days especially when matched to a good engine and rear end.
