Every time I go for a drive I pass at least one speed camera, and there's more on the way. How am I supposed to enjoy my baby without being paranoid of getting stung for doing 44km/h in a 40km/h zone? Even though there currently aren't many 40 zones, I hear they are trialing them in some areas and possibly considering them in current 50km/h zones. that's just great...$1 million a day from the westgate bridgeWhat is the world coming to?

You don't need to be Einstein to figure it out:It's the best "Claytons" tax the government could wish for...., "Its a tax which isn't a tax"What can I say, its as bad as the closure of all the fun forests and parks which were available for dirt bike riding (enduro's) back in the 80's.Used to have some fantastic dirt rides thru Kersbrook and Kuitpo Forests (SA) but the "greenies" and do gooders closed them all up. damn. Couldn't justify the dirt bikes after that, no reasonable place to ride within 2 hours drive... bugger!Don't despair, cdm. There is life beyond 50 kph...A growing motor sport event is "modern regularity".It used to be strictly for classic cars, but CAMS has approved the category for modern cars. The aim is to drive consistent times, rather than fastest times, so theoretically a 600 cc Honda S chain drive could win over a megabuck F50 Ferrari. These events have been run at club level at Mallala, (SA) and are growing in popularity, as it offers a safer environment to legally drive your car enthusiastically at more than 50~60 kph.I wouldn't sell your T yet.ciao

Posted 15/10/03 07:57 AM Posted 15/10/03 07:57 AM E-mail your local member, get everyone you know to e-mail your local member.Tell as many people as you can to demand to see the photo, contest it in court. If everyone who got a speeding ticket from speed cameras did that it would take about 5 years before your case got heard and the courts would be so back logged the system would grind to a halt. But will only work if everybody did this. Oh, well back to reality....nice to dream though. :(

He also has found that only 7% of fatalaties have speed as the major factor. Now we all know speed is a factor in 100% of incidents, (except for the odd occasion when a building falls on a stationary vehicle) but the emphasis is always that it is the speed that is the direct or major contributing factor. At last someone with more than half a brain has stood up and publicly stated what we have all known for yonks. Also, he has warned authorities that, while they are wasting their efforts concentrating on speed as the major cause of fatalaties, they are in fact ignoring the real causes and failing to take the appropriate action to reduce said fatalaties.I would like to get hold of his full study ... an interesting read for sure, and I wish some of our politicians would take note. They are willing to let our young die on the roads, blame speed, set up another camera, reap in some more tax.

Cars slow down for the camera and then speed back up again. So therefore the average speeds along the M4 have not reduced at all, but fatalities have. What could this indicate. This would indicate that the Police HWP Western Sydney operation that has been used to saturate the M4 has built in enough deterrent to risky driving behaviour. The revenue from the cameras is just another form of tax. The only way to stop them is to reduce the amount of services that are paid for by the taxpayer and to vote tyhe Government out of office!
Guest EdMoorhouse Guests Posted 15/10/03 11:27 AM Posted 15/10/03 11:27 AM We all know that speed kills. Every time a Jet lands at the airport they have to sweep all the dead people off.

I have been in a 120MPH multiple barrel roll and survived. I have been off the road at terrifying speeds and never hurt. Each time in a rally car with safety equipment. that's not to say you cant die in a simple road crash. even at 50KPH into a brick wall your going to die. The speed camera isnt going to stop that smash or any other for that matter. Its random taxation and that's that. Here's one of my off road excursions. 140KPH in the 1980 southern Cross Rally. No personal damage! No speed cameras either!

Last ticket I got a couple of months back was on a mountain road in a 50 zone before 6.30am. Seriously ..... unless I was driving like a maniac or excessively speeding, what is the problem?? 50km p/h on an descending road is very hard to stick to unless you are constantly riding the brake ..... but I managed to get busted. They're bloody everywhere these days and there is nothing we can do about it. What's worse is that if you actually try to stick to a limit, you usually get a car up your ar$e pushing you to speed anyway!!!! Perhaps some of those rotating number plates out of a James Bond movie are in order ................
