There are apparently fake Walbro pumps around that cause problems.

Use what your tuner thinks is the best, 300kw does not require massive fueling, so it should be a simple upgrade.

Apart from listening to the cool noise it makes, I`ve never given my Walbro pump a second thought.

The company has been around for ever and I for one have never heard of anyone having any drama.

So long as you avoid the Ebay fakes, It all should be good.

The damage that could result from fuel starvation makes upgrading from the stock fuel pump mandatory in my humble opinion.

One sure way to tell is by taking a look at the pump intake. The genuine Walbro is a gerotor style pump and not a vane type pump. This is the same style as our oil pump gears.

Look at this pic:

Notice the in the middle pic you can see the gerotor design. This is what it should look like. If id doesn't it's a fake.

I've had a failure/sh*t one.. Bought from ebay so may have been a dud.. Started off good for a while, then got real noisy, surged with even just under half a tank in.. Eventually did a few mods and put it on the dyno to check if evrything was running fine, and the engine wasnt gettin the fuel the tune asked.. Bought a new pump from a forum sponsor and is now all sweet, well its now gettin too much fuel midrange so a re-tune is needed, plus the extra mods I initially put on.. Was a Gss 341..

Dont get it off ebay...

Make sure its a proper Walbro, walbro is stanped on the sides of the real ones, fakes are blank as far as I've seen but are still sold as GSS 341.

Cheaper price is usually an indicator that its a fake...

I believe the main reason for failure & or problems is instalation. They have to be installed with care, making sure the hose joins are solid and there is flexibility in the hoses as the cradle itself has movement.

Always get them fitted by experts if your not exactly sure of how to fit them, as its a hassle for dyno opperators to have to stop tuning due to poor fuel supply from a poorly fitted pump... not to mention getting stuck on the side of the road, or drag strip.

I dont know if mine is playing up, it was bought from RAP1D so it is the real deal.

Its been in for a few months, but I don't drive the car often, until now as my company car got raped by the Perth storm... anyways whilst idling it will whine like it usually does, then after a moment the pitch will change lower as if its getting less power. Even does this when driving along slowly and you can hear the pump.

Could be normal, might not be. Its literally only done 1000km's

LOL I'd say stay away ... I've had 3 die on me within 600ks tuner has said all 3 have been stamped with walbro on the sides. First pump died all together second started cutting out and having NO power .. less than a diesel and third one has a piss at 1800rpm and car is starving for fuel at WOT
