Not sure on the BA/F spec's.

My fronts are a 45+ offset and my rears are 38+. I clear the 6 pots with 10mm to spare. I am told you need 35+ for them to fit. but I would prefer 38+.

Now big brake pro's and con's

Pro's

They look the ducks guts. expecially if you have 19" or bigger rims. The stock brakes look dreadful.

They will haul you down from ridiculous speeds again and again.

If fitted with a top shelf fluid to match, the feel is in another league compared to the stock brakes.

Con's

They cost a fortune.

If you don't do track days or hill climbs chances are you will never know the real difference they make in braking.

Pad and rotor changes will now max the credit card.

Brake Dust

I can remove my wheel and front brake in less than 5 minutes. It's two 15mm bolts and a 11mm brake line nut. Put them on your insurance strait away.

So now you have to weigh up what you really want. or are expecting. Or doing with the car.

If you just want something that stops you in an emergency better. then your better choice is to keep your std rims and buy a set of Goodyear eagles, or something of that quality.

Whatever you throw at that car now becomes a quater of what you paid for it when you go to sell it. Or at best half if you pull it all off and it is still in perfect condition. And put it on Ebay or what ever.

Typically a 2nd hand pair of 6/4's will sell for $3500 in perfect condition.

Same condition but a 4/1 set up will go for $2500. These make great road brakes. Look the ducks guts and you have some readies towards your mags.

You are right re $$ spent on the car. Never get it back in kind but then why do we spend money on these cars?? Mate I have been through divorce, lost my dad and had cancer...I deserve to spoil myself I reckon. But I get your point and agree totally.

I'm not a stranger to hard driving and have experienced substantial brake fade over the years. It is something I hate. You live with it, but usually 3, maybe 4 hard brake applications and then it's throw the anchor out to stop.

Looks are a big thing I agree and so that's one aim.

The second is performance and while I can't rule out throwing it around at a track day, its not on the cards just yet. But mainly for oppurtunity rather than desire. Price is an issue. I have got a set of PBR-M calipers and 2 peice rotors. If they are half as good as they look they will be sensational. They cost $3500 and retail for nearly $6k fitted (These are not the PBR upgrade). So I have saved some $$ there. Wheel clearance was an issue as I didnt want to change wheels but I am resigned to it now and am looking at FPV dark argents (Or whatever they are called)

I am very impressed with the bigger standard rotors on the BF turbo. That little bit extra in circumference does make a difference and I havent warped a disc yet (went thru 3 sets of rotors on my BA) so they obviously fixed that. But I like to be complete and it just doesn't sit well having over 500hp of power with standard brakes. I explained to my 10 year old that Allan Moffet won Bathurst in the late 70s with 500hp and I now have more than that with more to come. I certainly wouldn't drive his XC on standard brakes.

So I guess that tells you my reasoning. Maybe I'll find the PBRs cr@p, maybe overkill. At least I will know. But I was quoted nearly $6k for APs today just for the fronts. THAT is over kill LOL.

Give adam a ring on 9743 1548. I spoke to him today as I seen he has a set on his bf xr8 ute. Not sure on sizing though but Im sure he will know what they will and wont fit over.
