Ap Brake Price

Anyone know how much a setup of Ap brakes on a BFII will cost? Approximate? Cna't find anywhere on the net that will give any idea.

I have seen 6 pot brembo kits on ebay going for 2500 over xmas and that's with the correct lines to suit and rotors... cant go past that I think

I think that was fronts only.

Still stuck with the wheel issue though. I think the Aps will go under standard 18 rims.

I think Ill just keep the PBRs, change the rims and save 2k. Im not hitting the track.

The inner diameter of your wheel will affect the size of your rotor.

The offset of your wheel will affect the size of the caliper. Most modern cars and front wheel drives use a positive offset. Around 15mm usually.

An old deep dish mags will be a negative offset.

The 6 pot brembo's are a very wide caliper block. Something like 20cm wide not including your lines. Your std PBS 2 pot fronts are 13.5cm.

I got Speedy inferons 19" x 8.5 f & 9.5 r for $2,000 with cheap tires at Bob Jane. They will take the 6/4 combo easily at least 5mm to spare lol

FInally some sense.

This is the issue I am having trouble coming to terms with is the offset. Looking at wheels online is fine. These things brakes) are meant to fit under 18s and they do fit. Calipers and rotors no problem. But as you said its the offset. And looking at pics its difficult.

The PBR-M calipers are wide, the rears are 14cm. However they fit the rears no worries. The fronts, with my rims, nope. So yes, its the offset.

Maybe this will help, he explains it better than me.

The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centreline of the wheel. The offset can be one of three types;

Zero Offset

The hub mounting surface is even with the centreline of the wheel.

Positive

The hub mounting surface is toward the front or wheel side of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front wheel drive cars and newer rear drive cars.

Negative

The hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side of the wheels centreline. "Deep dish" wheels are typically a negative offset.

If the offset of the wheel is not correct for the car, the handling can be adversely affected. When the width of the wheel changes, the offset also changes numerically. If the offset were to stay the same while you added width, the additional width would be split evenly between the inside and outside. For most cars, this would not work correctly.

So typically, Bfs haf a +35 offset (correct me if wrong there) which explains why the hub is more towards the road side than the brake side. Ok I get that now. Cool.

The BA 18" clear the calipers no prob and I assume they are 35 as well. My standard 18 BF rims would be +35 Id assume (Sorry, thinking aloud here).

So that leaves me with the assumption that +35 still may not clear the calipers but knowing it will help. Well so far, all the rims I have seen have the +35. Just a matter of picking the spoke design that doesnt fold back in to foul the caliper.
