Hybrid Intercooler Installed...And Tuned!

I finally got around to installing the cooler to my BF the other week.

I have fitted it with a replacement crossover and underbattery intake of my own creation... along with injectors, pump, cat, hotdogs

PERFORMANCE:

After I installed it I only drove it around off boost for a day till I got it tuned, but it definately made a big difference even off boost, heaps better throttle response, it seems to have removed alot of lag off the mark, I previously had a typhoon cooler...

After a custom tune, I am making 270rwkw on 8psi, with torque peaking at 850nm (my stock clutch stopped me from going any further)

FITMENT:

a little more cutting is required compared to the diagram they supply, air con line needed to be pushed up about 30mm, bat all in all not hard to fit... the stone tray still fitted, just!

the hardest thing about the install was the under battery intake!

LOOKS

definately attracts some attention, the longer core fills the front bar nicely, looks tough, I also got the pipes powdercoated black...

Overall, im very happy with it, and if you can make your own crossover and under battery intake, its a good kit for the money, all up about $800

Does the underbattery intake just go to a pod filter under the headlight?

Yeah it sits under the headlight like all the other kits...

ive used 2 x 45deg silicone bends to get under the battery from the turbo, a bit of straight tube running under the battery, then a 90 deg bend down to a pod filter under the head light... pretty simple really... a good way of saving yourself some cash

I love the look of these coolers on a black car - looks real tough (I could be a bit bias though......). How did you engineer the BOV connection? I'm looking to get rid of my factory crossover too but instead keep the factory airbox setup. I think I need to have a think about it......ouch.

in between the silicone hoses I have an alloy 45deg bend with a 25mm tube welded onto it for the BOV

Yeah, I can dig it. Do you reckon a 3" pipe assembly could fit behind, running from airbox to turbo inlet pipe? That's sort of the idea I had for my system....

I doubt 3" will fit, but its not hard to test...

under the battery is the better option though, the pipes wont heat up over the rocker and turbo manifold...

Probably the best option but would like to keep factory airbox. I can feel some trial and ERROR coming on....

How did you connect the factory boost sensor that's attached to the UBP to the intercooler piping...
