Hey guys

Sister and I are shopping this weekend to get her a small/mid sized car for $15000 or less. Before buying my first T I had the new Swift which I thought was awesome and have suggested that but really dont know what else is out there.

Can be any shape, color, tranny whatever!!

Let me know what people think

Thanks

There is not a lot of choice, but I would get a Getz.

I have had one for 3 years as a company hack and it has not missed a beat.

Take her to a few car yards and let her work out what cars she likes. No use suggesting something that she thinks looks discusting.

Then do a bit of research on each and work out whats the best.

FWIW I would be looking at a second hand diesel I30 if I was after something small and cheap to run, but I'm not sure if you would get one for 15K.

Yeah, I'd say the Getz if you want a reliable dirt cheap car. At Pickles auctions at the end of '08, I saw 1-2 year old ones going for 7-8K. Every now and then you also get good ex-fleet Corollas for under 15K.

said to say same rec here for cheap reliable look at hyundi even a 1yr old elantra would be a great car ,can't beat 5yr unlimited km warranty and they stick by their warranty too.

other than that yes suzuki are making some very good little cars too

I'm selling a 2000 model pulsar, its turbo has a lot of work and will be a million times more fun than any of the cars listed above. And it will come in well under your budget :buttrock:

But for a basic run around the new yaris is nice and the fiesta and mazda2 arent bad cars either despite the small engines. But as others said you'll need to drive a few to get a feel for them and see what you want.

I would go straight to Ford and buy a Fiesta. Far superior car to the crapola Getz and is only a grand or two more expensive (still under budget). Fiesta iz zippy, economical and you can throw it into any car space. Getz is gutless so you have to give it stick to move and uses more fuel than the Fiesta and it utter sh*te inside and out.

I've had both as company cars...

If you're talking about the NEW Fiesta, I'm sure I saw an ad that listed price as being FROM $24k

Ye new Fiesta cant be had for anywhere near 15k.

Think I have it down to an 08 Swift, brand new Alto or Nissan Micra. The getz looks a little boring... But we are going to a few yards and there seems to be a heap of choice out there.
