We found it not clearing aswell, then we realised 4 bolts holding it on around flywheel, undid those 4 and it just fell out. This is what gets stuck on the firewall, and can make it tricky to remove. You must be careful when removing the transmission that you don't have the transmission on too much of an angle compared to the engine, as you could bend the clutch plate.If you are refitting another T5, you can cut the ear off the bellhousing starter motor pocket, which will make it much easier to refit.
