23/12/09 11:00 AM23/12/09 11:00 AM #1 so I get home from work last night to hear the the dirtiest ticking noise coming from the head of my bf xr6 when it idols so I tried this morning and it was there but not as loud so the hotter the engine the louder the noise gave my mate a call whos a technician at ford and he seems to think it might be a damaged lifter but until he comes over and sees and hears it for himself he cant guarantee that that's the problem. if it is though where gunna pull her apart as soon as possible and replace the lifters but I thought while weve got it apart I might as well replace the cams and lifters for performance ones. . ive looked at crow cams options and will give them a call to see what they think the best option cam is but anyway was just wonderin if anyones cammed their n/a 6 and what gear they used and what people would reccomend. . any help would be much appreciated thanks guys

24/12/09 03:59 AM24/12/09 03:59 AM #4 Sounds exactly like what happend to one of my mates car . He was pushing it 2 hard and it started ticking like mad , turned out to be a broken lifter , doesnt cost much to fix and is pretty easy . Definately upgrading your cams while its open is an awsome idea

26/12/09 05:50 AM26/12/09 05:50 AM #6 hey matemy car is making a similar sound also, at idle I can hear it after a decent drive, and also on the freeway its I can hear it fairly loud.it sounds like its coming from near the injectors or fuel rail? around that area, could be lifters though, not too sure.did you end up finding out what it was?I think I may have the same problem also.would it have anything to do with the injectors or fuel rail?and would it be bad for the motor to drive it in that condition or is it alright for short term till the bank permits
