September 26, 200323 yr #21 BLKXRT, just because you arent impressed by something, doesnt mean I cant test it. The order of your 'problems', where you place an oil cooler near last, shows that you either want to leave the engine totally stock, dont want it to live (modified) past a few months, or, have no idea what you are talking about. That however, is the beauty of the net, aint it? Knowledge optionalPlease ... feel free to test anything you like ....as for knowledge ... well, that's only your opinion, isn't it ?? my experience of watching someone pay a fortune for a kit that kept coming loose or falling off or failing was, to be extremely blunt, a sad and pathetic experience .... and yes it left me not very impressedfrom what I know, it seems that it is not a co-incidence that you have chosen to test that gear ... maybe to test anything else would not be as rewarding ...anyways .. you think what you like ... I'll continue to enjoy reading your articles ..cheersoh btw... the coolers are important but not as important as getting dependable 240-280rwkw down on the road first (and there are heaps of things to overcome that fail to get a mention in your articles so as to ensure that dependability IMHO)... beyond 240-290 ...yeh coolers are the next restriction ......
September 26, 200323 yr #22 Author Well I was waiting for the next edition expecting that Zoom was going to show us a new way to get the XR6 T to produce more power , but it seems they are just using a capa kit ??????
September 26, 200323 yr #24 Out of interest, how much power is yours making?240rwkw .... having valve spring issues that Ford are trying to resolve as we speak...Ford wacked a blue printed head on the ute and I promised I'd keep it at lower levels .... in a month or so I'll just replace the springs with some of a slightly beefier spec .... then go back to around 270the only dyno result I could quickly find not a prime example of tune I must admit ... in fact it is a disgrace  ... but that was months ago and smoothed many edges...enough of that ... working on a stang now and just running the XRT mules (ute and sedan) in plenty of trafficcheers
September 26, 200323 yr #26 You might want to sort that dyno graph of yours out before you start throwing stones......Heres my poorly researched and obviously inferior junker on low boostNotice the boost pressure - nothing. But you wont get this result by bolting on other peoples parts and forming an opinion. Its all in the testing, and of course, tuning
September 26, 200323 yr #27 it pays to advertise. At the time we did that - some four months ago, no one else anywhere had anything. Redcliffe didnt have a kit out, TSI I think were still testing (I think they got out at about the same time or a few days earlier), Motec throttle control was still being developed, and APS, although graciously offering to supply a Unichip for the car, stipulated that it had to be supplied in, and then remain in, totally standard condition. Obviously that didnt suit the requirements of the project.Unfortunately we were left with little choice. However I think the decisions will be vindicated when we get to the 1/4 mile testing installment. I dont think anyone has run quicker yet, regardless of their technology, or opinions
September 27, 200323 yr #28 Author Cant wait to see what sort of times you guys run. So the kit fitted is bascially the 310-340 capa ? Well it would be good to see how capa kits perform, I agree with the oil cooler and am going to fit on to my car .

But you wont get this result by bolting on other peoples parts and forming an opinion. Its all in the testing, and of course, tuning what is your problem?never said anything about the standard of your research nor was I throwing stones ....do you have a Capa connection ??? .... if so, big deal your personalizing of what you think I'm doing is not helping you sell your wares :D and isn't really a good look for anyone .....I pay to find out what you are researcher and that is fine..... seems like some are getting a little disappointed (but not me atm)I'm offering you info that could assist you .... gremlins that come in at 90%-110% stock power, maybe you already know about them ..you don't ask what gear I'm running nor appear to have much interest in other peoples work other than to critize or be little.... that is a pity that disgraceful dyno sheet of mine was hanging around because it showed marked valve floating ... still not bad for a faulty engine ...mate, cheer up ... you are not the only smart guy in the world, there are lots of us willing to have a go..... and by the way, I am a multi-disciplined engineer and have been for over thirty years so I'm not the numbnut you might think (oops ...beating my chest)cheers

Well it would be good to see how capa kits perform, I agree with the oil cooler and am going to fit on to my car . Well its all hard facts isnt it. Those that dont believe the oil cooler is useful, dont mind 140deg C oil after some extended hard driving...which is on the knocker of engine death. Its really not that hard to work out, is it? Took about 10 minutes of country driving with some temp measuring equipment. No rocket science, just ground work
