February 12, 201016 yr #61 I'd be sticking in a set of rods and decent rod bolts. I know you've mentioned money is a little tight, but it may end up costing you more in the long run.
February 12, 201016 yr #62 Author I've thought about that. I'll have to wait and see. I want too, don't get me wrong, it'd be good if I could buy a short motor without rods, lol. I wish there was something between a standard short motor and an atomic one! Maybe there is a market there that atomic can corner, hint hint wink wink
February 12, 201016 yr #63 I bought a complete bf mk2 tornado long tornado motor for 4500$ of ebay 20,000km's. Dropped straight into my BA no dramas (1 day job).Keep your eye out on ebay.
February 15, 201016 yr #65 A bit of a update on this motor of Matts, he rang me and told me while pulling the motor out, he found the boost hose going from the solinoid to the boost actuator had came off (at the soinoid end).with this off the boost would have swung around to about 25psi at 4000rpm, and would very turned the rods into Sbends.very sad for a good motor, but a big warning to everyone of just what can go wrong (a 2 dollar part as they say) we are going to work on some warning alarms to tell someone when something like this happens. David
February 15, 201016 yr #66 sounds a lot like neos engine. we were convinced it was coming from the front of the head but it turned out to be 3 bent rods :(yes millers is right it was 3 rods. :(
February 16, 201016 yr #67 Author Ordered the short motor and gaskets today, big thanks to dave for all his trouble shooting over the phone, have spent a few hours in total talking with him trying to get this sorted. I am investing in all new hose clamps etc. as this happeneing again is NOT an option lol.
February 16, 201016 yr #68 I was thinking of buying one of these- Go Fast Bits. I think Dave was mentioning these to me when I was chatting to him last time?
