September 13, 200323 yr #1 Yep, today I thought I was finally going to see my T after all the wait.It was my lovely Merc Silver, with it's SSS, leather, premium sound, etc, etc waiting for all the dealership fitted options to be installed. However, it also came with a sunroof which I didn't order!!Seems someone at Ford made a mistake and chucked in a sunroof for my car due to an error in one of the digits of the SIDO.Dealer wanted me to pay for the sunroof if I was to pick her up. I wasn't really fond of this, so objected. So I couldn't take this car even after all this wait.Luckily, it seems the person who was mean't to get the sunroof had a car with the same factory specs to mine. So I will be getting that which the dealer 'says' should be here next week.So after all that, I have to wait another week. Seems like nothing after all this time. I just hope it doesn't take any longer!
September 13, 200323 yr #2 Its a bit rude expecting you to pay for something you didnt order and dont want because of an error made by Ford
September 13, 200323 yr #3 better still, both you and the guy who wanted a sunroof will be happy !!! if the stuff gets sorted out properly if you had paid for and took delivery, FORD would have had two pissed off customers (and the others)keep us informed
September 13, 200323 yr #4 Seems someone at Ford made a mistake and chucked in a sunroof for my car due to an error in one of the digits of the SIDO. The SIDO is issued after your dealer lets the factory know what options you want.So unless the other similar spec vehicle's SIDO is almost the same as yours,It looks like another case of Dealer Salesman BS.
September 14, 200323 yr #5 This is exactly what happened to me. I ordered the rex dvd player and I got the Satellite Navigation system instead. After waiting 3 months they said that I would have to wait another 3 months while they order another one because they can't take the sat nav out. I could also pay another $3795 on top of what I have already paid and then I could have that car straight away and they would fit the dvd player into it when it came in.After refusing to leave the dealership without that car they eventually gave it to me and the dvd player was installed at no cost. Don't listen to them just keep fighting and you will get your way.
September 15, 200323 yr #6 Salesman BS a mile off ... isn't it a tad funny that an identical spec car is just a week off??? I'd hazard a guess that the other buyer has tried to get out of the sunroof deal due to finance or some other problem, and the salesman has thought of a quickie fix to offload it on you for some extra dosh - tell 'em you'll take the car with the sunroof at no extra cost to you. Then act real generous and offer them $1000 for it. If the other deal has fallen through they are going to have trouble selling the other car anyway, being fully optioned, so you might get lucky if they decide to cut their losses and pick up the grand you offer.
September 15, 200323 yr #7 Yeah, a bird in the hand.......etc. I'd be trying some hard negotiations for the sunroof car. At least, try to get some guarantees re delivery of the alternative. The sunroof will be helpful with resale and, provided you're not 6'6", won't be a disadvantage. If the dealer's being straight with you, all well and good - but if my T had turned up wrong, eg in citric acid, I would've had a hard job rejecting it. (It's something only a parent understands)If the car was what I wanted except for an unordered extra, I would've been excited about the bargaining prospects of getting something worthwhile at a heavily discounted price or even for free. (probably depending on how well U did on the original deal).RegardszekeDon't forget the bird in the hand bit!
