I currently own an 07 XR6T with 68,000 on the clock. I was just down at the dealership waiting for my car to finish being serviced when something caught my eye, an 05 Typhoon with 45,000 on the clock for $37,900. Now, I was considering spending about 7k on my car to bring it up to about 320rwkw. If in my position, would you spend the money on the current car, or sell it and get the phoon?

Wow hard call Grug,

I would look into things like insurance differences between standard and FP,

You also know your car inside out where the new car could have been thrash, on its way out, been rebuilt or been in a accident etc but its a FPV LOL

I would keep current car and spend on your car you know inside out.

Have you thought of the FG for around that money? the new motor rips hard and is pulling low 13s stock and spools up super fast with its new turbo etc and its has a fresh inertia and style plus the drop in fuel consumption to power, just a thought.

Grug,

That is a hard choice mate... Not being rude, but do you think you can get $30 for your car either as a private sale or a trade-in?

You may end up getting less and having to spend more than $7K to end up with the stock phoon... And remember insurance, transfer fees, stamp duty, licencing if needed, anything the phoon needs (Tyres/Service etc) Might end up being quite pricey...

I hope that the phoon is a BF - You didn't specifiy... If it is a BA, then I'd say probably not. A BF with a ZF on the other hand is up to you...

You may get 300rwkw+ for less than $7K as well mate - I'd say you almost definitely could.

The other guys above both have valid points as well - Have you considered an FG? You also know your car - Some idiot might have own the F6 before and treated it badly...

It is a hard choice mate, but keep thinking about it - You'll work something out.

Good luck,

Dan

A few further points for consideration

1/you can easily get to 300 rwkw for under $7k

2/Make no mistake there is a big difference beween a BF and BA phoon. Different cars IMO

3/Assume you will need to do a thorough service on the Phoon. All lubricants and filters

The ZF alone will cost money

If it were me I'd go stretch the finances a few K and go the Phoon

You may get about 20k on your as a trade-in, assuming you would trade, and its would be an 18k changeover. Keep your car and mod it.

Being a late model BF you can spend 4k on performance mods and wipe the floor with a stock F6.
