How are they going to know if your cars been lowered after 1 August?

If your in a 09 model car just say it was done in July. Lazy b*stards aint gonna check your vin number to see the car was manufactured after 1st August.

The VSI says you can be defected basically for going outside the manufacturer's vehicle specs, so more trouble if you need to clear it. The rule is good overall for all those sky high 4WDs up in the clouds and also people who cut their springs, both stupid and dangerous IMO.

Interesting you say that considering an indepenant test rescently performed in Australia to international standards has been conducted for input to the NCOP revisions and while the results are yet to be published it is indicated that a number of 3" and 4" lifts may have actually performed better than stock. Many more factors are involved in suspension geometry and performance than just ride height, such as anti squat as an example.

I dont think you can make a blanket statement that lifted 4x4s are safer or less safe without understanding all of the design parameters. Just the same as lowering all design parameters must be understood to make this assessment.

Yeah true enough, whether suspension in a vehicle is rasied or lowered, as long as it's done safetly and doesn't adversly affect the normal road handling, that's the main point. I'm sure many 4WD owners will want to go higher than 50mm and if so they only can get conditional registration with restricted road access, which I'm sure will be a pain. I was thinking of things approaching monster truck status.

Wow this is just stupid... A car that has a little lowering will ride better then a stock car if set up right... Better COG... As for 4x4s I owned one with 4" lift and 35"s and she handled like a dream compared to stock...

These thick as sh*t brick pollies will only sway their decision if they see the masses speak, which affects their bottom line....before we know it this will be a nation wide policy.

Rather than police all the sh*t boxes on the road, they target car enthusiasts who are passionate and care for their vehicles....pisses me off how many crap heaps I pass each day, smoking exhausts, bald tires, no brakes, full of rust...FFS get them off the road, rather than target us to raise revenue.

Yes the law has been deferred, there were so many holes in the rulings that they had no other choice!

We believe they will leave it at 50mm up and down, but no more apparently...
