Hi,

I used to have an R31 and rode in many a VL. When everyday driving with hardly any acceleration the turbo would whistle like a truck everytime once it hit 2500rpm, the XR doesn't whistle unless you boot it to the max.

Is there a difference in the type of turbo that causes the whistle? or is it prevented by the intake setup and exhaust on the XR?

Can I give you some advice?

Go talk to your tuner. Anyone of the sponsers here will help.

Coz the answer you need is certainly not in this thread.

Good to settle that one, and I hope one day you are able to comprehend the difference between a diesel engine and a petrol engine and how diesels do not produce a measurable scale of vacuum.

It's because a diesel runs under such a great vacuum isn't it...the whistle is the sound of air being sucked through the throttle butterfly.

Guess you didn't read the whole topic ey 'Seduced'... Read again, he's come in strong, so I've correct him.

Maybe you should take your own advice... Get over yourself and move on ey :)

Well, I've got a Growler Intake on my otherwise standard FG, and I can tell you that it definitely does whistle...whenever it starts to boost, its a whistling. So, obviously when your cruising, you don't get the noise, but slight acceleration will induce it. These things accelerate so quick, so you're unlikely going to be able to enjoy the noise for great periods of time, unless you're running the quarter or something...

I guess FG would whistle more than BA/F due to the smaller turbo. But when you add a big air intake and still have the standard exhaust you will really be able to hear it.
