Before you go trading it in, talk to your mechanic about the possibility that you may need new valve springs imo.

I just rang him up to check the valve springs. He said he will check it out. He kind of has a slight doubt as he says the car would do it everytime at normal driving if that's the case. Eitherway I told him to check it anyway. Let me clarify the problem. The problem occurs when your really gving the car a good belting, but on normal driving its not their.

Eitherway if I am to trade it, I doubt it would be a Ford or Expensive Daewoo again. Still on two minds what to do- I dont want to get into debt due to the current situation, but then I am without a car till I get this soughted out.

Just a small update: My mechanics wife Tanya took it for a spin and it is now doing it at around 3000rpms. So I asked her to check the fuel pressure regulator as suggested. It is now a process of elimination. All I can say is thank you guys for your support and keep the suggestions coming in. Sooner or later we going to hit this on the head.

It seems like your mechanic doesn't have a dyno. If possible take it somewhere to put it on a dyno, preferably one of the forum sponsors as they know their XR6Ts. When on dyno they can see if it's overboosting, not boosting, pinging, running rich or lean etc...

It will probably cost you less than the elimination process.

I noticed with my car that when I was reaching max revs it felt like the tail shaft was out of balance and would not rev out.

Over 2 weeks it got worse and at idle was very rattly and had to build revs slightly to stop the noise.

At Willowbank dragsI sealed its fate and turned out to be loose flex plate bolts (mine is auto) but I thought it was just a blown cat.

Four loose bolts on the crank/ flex plate riped the fly wheel to shreds.

If yours is auto, that would be my guess. $75 flex plate + 4hours labour, but sounds like you may have got it before any damage; so,lock tight may be all you need.

Thanks for that tip lowfrutura. I have just emailed him to rule out this as well. Dule he does not have a Dyno, but if he doesnt find out whats wrong with it, I may have to take it to a real specialist for this one.

Sorry guys but the car still remains at the mechanic. The plugs have been tested plus new ones where put in to rule out this. The mechanic is changing the fuel regulator to rule out the possibility it is a fuel issue. The Oxygen sensor would come up on the computer if it was at fault.

gotta love all the new cars with sensors etc n they dont do sh*t all bar make it harder. I had a problem with mine the computer told me to place the ecu ford told me not to believe the computer n dont buy a new ecu. I found the problem a lose wire into the plug on the ecu.......
