Having trouble deciding to buy a BF XR6 T ZF auto or BF Typhoon Auto.

There is about 8 to 10 G difference between the two.

Is the Typhoon that much better?

Or would I be better of getting a XR6 and spending 8 to 10 G on it.

What does the Typhoon have that the XR6 does not?

Wheels, I can by wheels

Body Kit, I do like the factory Typhoon kit.

Brakes, this is an expensive one for the XR6.

Trim, I really like the leather trim but don't know if I can afford that option. Re-trim for the XR6 is not that dear.

Tune, I'm going to re-tune it anyway

Rods & Valve train. In my position these are not that big of an expense and If I do them to an XR6 I'm going to put in better items than the Typhoon.

Prestige of a FPV, Never going to have that with an XR6.

Are the Typhoon's built better?

Pros / cons?

What does the Typhoon have that the XR6 does not

Wheels, I can by wheels COST ABOUT $2000 FOR OEM TYPHOON WHEELS

Body Kit, I do like the factory Typhoon kit. TO BUY THE OEM KIT WOULD BE OVER $5K FOR SECOND HAND, OR ABOUT $2K FOR A FIBREGLASS COPY

Brakes, this is an expensive one for the XR6. YEP BREMBOS START AT ABOUT $2.5K

Trim, I really like the leather trim but don't know if I can afford that option. Re-trim for the XR6 is not that dear. LEATHER IS AN OPTION ON ALL BUT THE LATER BF2's

Tune, I'm going to re-tune it anyway THE BASE OF THE TYPHOON WILL RESPOND BETTER TO A TUNE ONLY

Rods & Valve train. In my position these are not that big of an expense and If I do them to an XR6 I'm going to put in better items than the Typhoon. THE MOTORS ARE THE SAME IN THE BF ONWARDS

Prestige of a FPV, Never going to have that with an XR6. THIS IS THE MAIN ADVANTAGE. THE FPV IS THE COMPLETE PACKAGE AND ORIGIONLA, NOT A COPY.

Are the Typhoon's built better? I THINK THEY MUST DO SOME TYPE OF QUALITY CONTROL AT FPV, THAT JUST MAKES THEM FEEL BETTER.

You obviously know what you're talking about as you have covered everything mate...

I see it this way; to upgrade the brakes to the Brembo 4/PBR 2 piston combo, add a cheap fibre sports body kit & some FPV copies to an XR6T, you will have pretty much spent the 8-10k difference between the two vehicles.

Buuut, you wont have an F6, you will have a frankenstein XR6T with fake wheels & body kit that isn't worth nearly what you paid for it & wont move fast when it comes time to sell it... Plus it will never be an FPV & will be missing various little parts here & there such as aux gauges, scuff plates, trim pieces, the wank button & the nices finish to name a few...

Buying an F6 is not always the best option, but if you're not going to be completely happy with the XR6T & are going to spend cash upgrading parts to FPV spec, it will absolutely not be worth the saving of buying an XR6T.

IMO just go the FPV

As Zapp has clearly demontrated

Phoon mate all the way

Had a modified T and two modded Phoons (one BA one BF)

The Phoon is just an all round better base. They just seem far better

planted on the road.

Mine looks stock except for the quad 3 inch exhaust and I/C, that aside

it still turns plenty of heads. With the number of Ts now out there

they need to be pretty special to stand out.

Dons flame suit and waits for incoming

What does the Typhoon have that the XR6 does not

Wheels, I can by wheels COST ABOUT $2000 FOR OEM TYPHOON WHEELS. that's not so bad. Plus I can get what ever wheels I want.

Body Kit, I do like the factory Typhoon kit. TO BUY THE OEM KIT WOULD BE OVER $5K FOR SECOND HAND, OR ABOUT $2K FOR A FIBREGLASS COPY. Yeah this is true and the factory kit is tasteful not over the top. But if I get a XR6 I probably won’t put a kit on it. And if I ever did it would be a custom kit. Mock ups aren't really my style.

Tune, I'm going to re-tune it anyway THE BASE OF THE TYPHOON WILL RESPOND BETTER TO A TUNE ONLY. Here’s the thing. I will be modifying and/or replacing pretty much everything. Turbo, manifold, plenum, exhaust, ect ect.

Rods & Valve train. In my position these are not that big of an expense and If I do them to an XR6 I'm going to put in better items than the Typhoon. THE MOTORS ARE THE SAME IN THE BF ONWARDS. Cheers, didn't k now that.

Thanks for your input.

Mate the fpvs are nice no doubt but if your going to f*ck with it then just buy the xr6t. 10g on mods and bye bye typhoon lol. 10g will get you sway bars, springs, wheels, tyres and enough power to keep them in your rear view. They are a very nice car but my opinion is an fpv wont be worth much to a smart buyer once modded and f*cked with anyway. Xr6ts are good cars to rip apart and play with, leave the fpvs for the rich people lol.

I've had 4 Phoons and they ARE NOT of any better build quality than the XR6, they still get the Ford OEM noisy diffs, thumps, bumps, boot leaks, poor paint quality, misaligned panels, and interior plastic rattles that seem to be complimetary on most Aus built cars.

If you were just going for the usual mods then I would say go the Phoon but if you are going balls and all mods it won't really matter if you go for the F6 or the Phoon IMHO. Most things south of the G/Box are going to break or wear out much faster than they will on a standard car. The FGs still flog out their Diff bushes, but the build quality does seem a little better.
