What about cheap car seat covers for everyday use and when going out just pull them off that's what I do and the leather should stay nice and clean and not to much wear and tear

do you have side airbags in your car? if so I wouldnt be using car seat covers unless theyr modified for the airbags.

Last ute had leather for the very reason that it is easy to maintain when you get it dirty, which is for me most days of the week . Had that car for about 4 years and every week used mothers cleaner and conditioner to keep it looking good . My new ute I do the same thing. I'm sure if I had only fabric seats I would have ruined them in no time at all. For someone who perhaps has a job where they stay clean fabrics fine but dirty buggers like me who crawl around in mud, dust and filthy roof spaces leather is great. Once thought leather was a bit of a wank however now see it as very practical.

The ford product is a waste of space, it honestly does nothing.

I think you'll find that's not a Ford product so much as a dealer trying to make some money off you - same deal as paint protection. Ford and its suppliers do a heap of research into the longevity of interior parts (there's even a mechanical bum that they use to test new supplier seats!), so an additional "protection" from the dealer is plain unnecessary. But I'm all for maintaining things in top condition with some regular cleaning and treatments - keep em just like new! Just like on the outside I guess

Funny you say that cause I do have the side airbags and I did recently crash my car and the side airbag blew straight through the seat cover when I went back to the store to look for some new seat covers I come across the exact ones I just had on and it was advised not to be used with seats fitted with sideair bags lucky me I guess.
