I was talking to the rep at Metro Ford regarding when I was getting my 6T when he said that ford had received a report that someone had upped there car too 8.5 psi and ran a 11.3 quarter. Dont know if any other work was done to the car but what do you guys reckon? Bollocks or what? QikSmurf Member 246 Member For: 21y 9m 28d Posted 14/08/03 07:32 AM Share Posted 14/08/03 07:32 AM Could be, but unlikely. Simply boosting it to 8 or 9 psi has no real effect without engine management upgrades. APS have an upgrade to 300kw that runs 9psi and changes the fuel mapping to suit. This car can run 13.45 sec quater mile. To shave another 2 sec off this would mean big power boost and then the likelyhood of gear box handgrenading comes into the equation. Guest HocuSChrisT Guests Posted 14/08/03 08:51 PM Share Posted 14/08/03 08:51 PM PLEASE... remember, that if someone changes their gear ratios, the car will do 12 secs at least. Seen it with me own eyes I have up here at what one could call a disgusting excuse for a drag strip in Townsville. That said, that evil powerhungry Dynosteve is gunna smash all when he finds that traction. I just looked at the APS website and their XR6T measured 511hp@wheels, and with a completely stock engine. One can only imagine the hp potential with modifications to the motor etc. If APS decided to drag their XR6T I think it would be them and redcliff dyno fighting it out for the title. Guest Turbomax Guests Posted 15/08/03 03:07 AM Share Posted 15/08/03 03:07 AM Sounds like nonsense to me. Even with ideal traction, 8.5psi (a small increase over standard) just aint enough to drop nearly 3 seconds off the quarter for a 1670kg car. 13.3 maybe. You gota watch those sales guys no matter where they come from! Agreed. Townsville Dragstrip is a shocker. It'd be a fast strip if they sealed the dirt area. :(Anyway, as has been said, I can't see this increase in boost giving those times, unless there's been a ratio change.
