February 4, 200917 yr #1 So I took the car to WSID tonight, It was a last minute decision and probable should have saved my self the $50. But I guess I had to start somewhere. The first run I just wanted to get a feel for the car and the track (its been 10 years since I have raced) and a 13.0 was the result. Second run the hose came off at the TB with a fair ways to go...hence the 13.2 @ 91mph and the third run the same hose came off very early in the run.See attached.I can however say I did learn from this.1. Steel cap work boot make it hard to feel the throttle2. It's ok to run on the factory Dunlops, however it would not hurt to remove a couple of PSI before hand.3. If a hose clamp seems faulty don't put it back on and hope to get one more run
February 4, 200917 yr #2 Nice one mate got to start somewhere. The first ones always the hardest & there is always some hiccup. My first trip out had major surge & couldn't do any better than 12.8 with an auto & 500 + hp. Its all good, good excuse to get out & practice some more.Have ya got some info on the car??? February 4, 200917 yr #3 Running a 2.2 60 footer, 13.0@118MPH first time out in a car with that sort of power on your 19" tyres is not a bad effort. The MPH shows that on some good tyres you should be able to run in the mid to high 11s bracket depending on the launch.Pity the $2 clamps let you down... It's happened me and many others. It might of been leaking during the first run anyway.Although it was a bit dissapointing it's a start !! Well done ...Anyone take video or pics?
February 4, 200917 yr #4 Author I have some vid on the girls phone, I will get it from here tonight. On my camera I have film of my 17...My second run I was 2.5 mph faster at half track then the clamp came off. It will be a trip to motor sport connection today I feel.
February 4, 200917 yr #5 that's a good mph so some better tyres and get a stronger clamp for the piping and you should see 11s.
March 4, 200917 yr #6 Author So I made a last minute decision to go out by myself last night and see what improvements I could make to my times. I can say I was happy I went.I had 3 runs in the 12's and one in the 11's. All on the factory Dunlops with 25psi in them.Scanner not working for me today...60' 2.247 2.429 2.232 2.051330 5.822 6.040 5.656 5.3321/8 8.474 8.663 8.272 7.893MPH 94.73 95.69 95.73 97.191000 10.694 10.888 10.483 10.0811/4 12.556 12.752 12.338 11.916MPH 121.49 121.10 121.86 123.02 Over all I am pretty happy to get in the 11's on street tyres and only my second time out in the car.
March 4, 200917 yr #8 Author LINKGear box seemed unhappy shifting 2-3 and 3-4....I also manual shifted not sure if this is better or worse then just leaving it in performance mode.
March 5, 200917 yr #9 Well, judging by the power you have there is plenty more left in it! When changing Manually, what rpm did you shift at?Find some Mickey Thompsons and head down in the cooler months, it will feel like a different car
March 5, 200917 yr #10 Author Ahh yes the rpm I shifted at, I can safely say that my 11.9 was hurt by some pretty average shifting, Peak power at around 5g's and I think I found 3 at past 6. I will be getting the box checked out before I run again.Just to add between track days and 1/4 runs I am having more fun with this car then I have had with any other car, the track times, 1/4 times and dyno figures are nothing compared to the fun.
