Engine Oil - Very Specific Question

Can never get a true reading on fuel economy, but I reckon since I've been using the Nulon it seems to be better. No scientific data to back that up though

The only hesitation I had to buy it originally was the amateurish looking bottle

I bought 2x 5L bottles of Nulon Modern everyday engine oil from AutoBarn yesterday.

While they had 5L for 34.95 they were able to match the SuperCheap price of 29.95 so all up 59.90.

I have tried a few other oils and I also reckon the the nulon is the best oil for the price

I;ve been using that nulon oil for 15k now and love it

engine runs quiter especially on start up

I took the car in for the 15K service tonight and I reakon I'd agree with that comment. It was a short drive but the engine seems quieter and smoother...

Service cost $290 + $60 for oil (Nulon) so all up $350... Waddaya reakon - ok?

They had to tighten two bolts on the exhaust manny too. Apparently this is common? (caused by heat)

Sounds a bit steep to me, especially if you supplied the oil.

Did you have any other work done for that much?

I'd be asking the question if they charged you to sort out your exhaust manifold bolt issue.

Should be part of the service.

Yes - the labour came to $252 (inc. gst) and misc and oil filter was the remaining...

Kind of p1sses off to think the car was there for just 2 hours which means the hourly rate is around $126!

That is bullsh*t, mine is always under the $150 mark depending on what service. That is excluding oil & oil filter, still a friggin huge discrepancy there.

I'd question the bill with the service manager if it was only there for 2 hours.

There's no way they spent all two hours doing a regular service.

Have a look in your service book and it should tell you how much time they should take to do a 'regular' service.

They shouldn't be charging you any more than that if they didn't do any more.

Make them justify their charges I reckon.
