Help - Cluster Lights Not Working

Featured Replies

#1

Giday boys,

I was driving home from work tonight and my dash lights just went dark.

The tacho/speedo still move as normal, just without lights

Headlights were still on.

Same for the traction control off light

When I got home I checked the fuses 27/29 and they were both fine.

I find it a bit weird because from what I remember I wired the gauges in my tripod to the dash lights... but they still work fine.

Any Ideas guys?

Jarrod.

How did you connect the wires? There could be an issue with connection there

Actually no sorry. Originally I wanted to connect them to the dash lights but didn't because I couldnt find the correct wire to tap into so I ran them directly to the battery.

So the gauges wont be the problem.

There has to be a bad connection somewhere because they've come on/off while driving around tonight. - I haven't done anything to the dash :3gears:

For the sake of a couple of dollars replace the fuses just incase. Then try and track down any other wiring

Sounds like a power supply or common earth problem.

Are you, or have you been towing anything recently?

I know in the ex's Territory when I was towing my boat, and the electrics on the trailer were playing silly buggers, it stuffed all sorts in the fuse box. Ford ended up replacing my entire fuse panel!

nah haven't done anything like that.

the only thing I've done is finish off the install of a rapid cooler. But I wasn't exactly playing around with the electrics when I did that.

the blue lighting on the ICC has gone dark too. The screen itself still lights up, just all the instruments don't.

hey buddy. sorry to inform u but your up for a new combination switch.

cvommon as sh*t, the wires brake in the stalk when the indicators are turned on, the problem being the loom is to tight, good news is they are only a couple hunder to buy(plus fitting if u cant)

takes about 30 minutes with the knowhow and right tools, if u take the covers off around the switch ull prob be ablew to c the broken wires behind the indicator stalk, trouble is there isnt enough length to extend then

sorry for the bad news but at least we know what the problem is :)

Hope this help... I had the same prob but got fixed under warranty.
