Gt Stripes On An Xr6t?

Thanks. I can't take credit for the design as I got the idea from Charliewool and his hot pursuit ute, however his stripes are slightly smaller. I had always intended on the stripes, just wasn't sure of the design. I beleive this design is similar to the shelby mustang. I'm happy, but I think I maybe should have made them a bit smaller, however we had to keep it a bit big because the rear 1/4 of the car angles upward and we had to taper a little. The stripes were fitted for me by a local signwriter who did a terrific job!

As for the vents. Still undecided. I really want them, but I don't want somebody cutting into my bonnet. I don't know whether to go XA GT or EL XR vents. If the mess up the cut maybe it will crease the bonnet or warp it or anything evil could happen!! Plus, maybe insurance will care and it might create some wind noise (a whistle perhaps??) Buggered if I know, one way to find out though...

Hi all

Saw an Acid Rush XR sedan driving up ahead of me a few days ago. As I got closer I saw the GT stripes and got excited but as I drew along side it was only an XR6 NA. I thought that was a bit odd myself even though it did look good. At least it could have been a Turbo.

cdm I reckon EL XR is the way to go,XA are to dated and IMO look like an after thought.Wouldnt be surprised in the next couple of months the aftermarket boys will have some new stuff out. Wouldnt hurt to have a chat to Rare Spares and see whats cooking. that's one BIG oversight by ford ,no scoops.ADR maby?

There would be no problem pasing ADR with bonnet vents, as long as they have no sharp edges, don't extend to a certain height and have no entry point that a pedestrian can place his hand into the engine bay.

The bonnet vents on the WRX had a water tray underneath. This allowed the hot air to escape, trap water and prevent someone putting their hand into the engine bay.

The WRX bonnet scoop also had a number of supporting arms preventing foreign objects into the engine bay.....and the fact the intercooler was there also helped!

The bonnet vents are almost mandatory for the XR6T. I just don't know why they weren't put on from the factory.

I went and checked out an EF and EL XR's today to investigate the bonnet vents. One interesting discovery. They don't actually vent anything! They are purely for looks. There appears to be a black plastic cover underneath the bonnet where the vents sit. Another thing is that I would have to cut a pretty damn big hole for them to sit in because the are recessed. In this case I would have to respray the bonnet and so on. All to expensive and risky for my liking...So now I must think of something else....

The black plastic cover is the water tray. Anything which makes the bonnet less of a sealed space will vent it. Have another look at the vents, you will see that the air gap creates a vent.

I am about to order a Blueprint xr6T auto with 18" mags and premium brakes......do you know if you can order the trick 18"s off the GT-P for the turbo?

My Mum use to say "If you've got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all." So I won't say anything!

As for vents I wouldn't use vents off an old model car, it kind of dates your new XR if you know what I mean. It's like for example putting old style mags on a new car, looks stupid!

Nah, they wont do it.

The GT-P mags are exclusive to it only.

Dont know if they are available aftermarket

they porbably are like the 18" off the Xr range (available aftermarkter at $2500) but will cost heaps
