Alighment To Improve Turn In On Fg Turbo?

Not sure about others but personally I think the Dunlop tyres Ford uses have always been inadequate for the turbos in weather that was anything put warm and perfectly dry. Not sure what model are fitted on the standard FG XR 18's but they seem as useless as the SP3000 and SP9000's I had on my previous cars! About the only improvement is road noise but I suspect that is due to improvements in the actual car, not the tyres.

Previously I'd get the dealer to swap to Bridgestone S03's when possible and will be swapping to whatever the current equivalent is for this car. (Unless there is something better these days? Cost is irrelevant)

But until then, are there any alignment adjustments that can be made to get the front end turning in a bit better? Don't care if it makes the front/rear tyres wear any faster or unevenly as it will just help me get rid of them!

I'm not sure how much adjustment there is in the new cars mate, but if you throw some thicker sway-bars on it the turn in will improve

Yeah I know but seeing if there are ways of doing it without throwing new bits at the car. Being a fleet deal, they frown upon that sort of thing. I'm sure they can do some camber/castor/toe adjustments, won't be perfect but has to be some gains in it.

What tyres are fitted to your car? I have the 19 inch SP Sport Maxx and they seem ok for turn in. Not sure if there is going to be a much bigger front sway bar available for the FG. The one that's on there standard is huge. Adjusting your front camber and tyre pressures may improve the turn in with out spending too much. Other brand of tyres will make a traction improvement.

Believe they're the same tyres on the 18's, forgot to double check. Will see if an alignment improves things...

If cost isn't a problem, definitely go with the Michelin Pilot Sport 2's there just isn't a road tyre (non-semi slick) that can compete.

You will find your limits as a driver before you find the cornering limits of the PS2's. That is in both wet and dry conditions.

They are standard on all Porsche 911's, Koniegsegg's, McLarens, Bugatti, BMW M's, Audi RS's and the list goes on.

The only issue is that with an impressive OEM list like that they do cost a bit... Ring around a few dealers to get the best price as they vary greatly each month.

Some days Bob Jane may charge $100 a corner less than Jaxx, and the next month Jaxx will be a $100 cheaper. They should be around $620 for 18's.

Usually can't go wrong with something like that given the OEM fitments. I'm limited in the tyre outlets I can use, but found to get around fleet dictating what brand is to get the Ford service guys to sort it out. Providing they can get a hold of them, all good.

Alignment will help, need to go to a serious suspension shop.

Recipe to improve turn in is 1 deg Toe out at the front, Max castor, also go max negative camber at front (probably 1-1.5 deg is all you will get stock), at the rear neutral toe and max neg camber you can get stock.

The SP Sport Maxx tyre are rubbish and create alot of road/tyre noise.

My wifes previous Mazda 3 had the same tyres and the tyre noise was also really bad.
