14/08/08 09:54 AM14/08/08 09:54 AM #1 g'dayI was up in cooktown on the weekend with our nqfpc & before we left to come home on sunday morning I decided it was a good idea to pull the spoiler off the boot to see how it looks. was a simple task but when we pulled it off buggar me there was rust underneath where the spoiler sits on the boot. not just a spec but bad bubbling on both sides. I have to get a couple of quotes & take it to ford for pics no issue with warranty but maybe another little thing for people to quickly check over when inspecting there pride & joys.(by the way looks hot with spoiler off but the cook said she hated it so it stays on)john
14/08/08 08:36 PM14/08/08 08:36 PM #2 Bugger. Had mine off in the past and its ok. Lucky we have a 5 year corrosion warranty. Before you put it back on it might be a good idea to put a bit of light oil or greese aroun the area to help prevent it

15/08/08 01:19 AM15/08/08 01:19 AM #6 Author it took all about 2mins to rip off with a 10mm deep socket & abit of weaving to get the wiring hooked up to the spoiler light to check it out. I think I also spotted some on the inside boot panel between where 2 panel meet. will be checkin that out abit more.
15/08/08 01:38 AM15/08/08 01:38 AM #7 Yeah mate, I took my spoiler off a few weeks ago, just to check out the no spoiler look and exactly the same thing. The bolts had been overtightened somewhere along the line, which has caused the metal to deform, the paint to crack/bubble and yep, you guessed it... serious rusting.Do you think Ford will look after this under warranty?I was a bit skeptical about whether they would or not because they're going to ask how I found it and I'll say "by taking off the spoiler" so I thought they might try to blame it on me, implying that I may have been the one that overtightened the bolts.Only one way to find out though I spose.
15/08/08 02:57 AM15/08/08 02:57 AM #8 Author that was the first question they bloody asked me my response was becasue I wanted to see how it looks & could you bloody imagine what would of happened if I hadnt of checked. all good they said get 2 quotes & we'll take some photos. I tell ya what theres not much sheet holding underneath the spoiler, its pretty thin. looks like it had been overtightened.
30/09/08 09:08 AM30/09/08 09:08 AM #9 Author good news for me today. ford have gone ahead & approved warranty on the rust found on the boot. also after an incident with a pole down the rear passenger panel by a tyre shop a while back is gonna get fixed at the same time at no charge to me of coarse. the cars almost back in one piece except ive got a blown amp so its had to come out & get sent away . all will be pretty again & we'll pull the thing to bits again in a week or so to fit the plenum & then she'll look good inside & out & go like a shower of you know what!!! will be happy when its all finished & I can enjoy it again instead of it bein at the tuners, sound shop or panel beaters. been one thing after another this year. mind you most of it my own fault!!! couldnt & cant help myself!!!
